Favorite upgrade/addition to your M&P15

From a member of the older generation whose body parts ain't what they used to be, a 3x9 IR scope and a bi-pod on my OR.

Ammo, lots of ammo and magazines. No scope, no lasers, no flashlight, no need for that. Iron sights, cause If you can't shoot with them, what are you going to do when your fancy scope or red dot breaks?

Unless I'm heading off to some war (not likely as I'm pretty close to 60 now), it's not very likely I'll ever find myself in a situation where me, my M&P15, and it's ACOG will give much of "who cares" should it break. (not likely it will) It's too big to pocket carry so I can't use it for that.

When I go to the range, it's always with several firearms....so if one should "break", I put it in the case and pick up another one and finish out the rest of my enjoyable day. I appreciate my scope because it allows me to see much better than I can when using iron sights. I don't wear my bifocals at the range so I consider my cheating a bit with my "fancy scope" to be fair. ;) I hope your eyesight remains perfect for as long as you live....not having it certainly has it's drawbacks.

Sling is the first thing. Second is plenty of magazines. If it has a section of Picatinny Rail, then a light. Next would be an optic such as the Aimpoint. Then cases of ammo. Oh, did I mention plenty of magazines? That is all you need. Really, the optic is unnecessary for my purposes, but it is on the list "just because."

You consider an optic unnecessary but a light necessary? That seems weird to me, but it shows how different we all are! I consider flashlights on rifles silly, but optics important.

:):)by far the best thing ive added to my m&p was the trijicon, ive got a quad rail, vertical grip, houge pistol grip, ive got the bcm charging handle, and timney ordered and comming, ( plus a new NRA membership with two hats and a t-shirt coming:))

For helping me to shoot quickly and accurately, the Eotech EXPS2 was a big improvement to my S&W M&P 15 MOE. For shooting comfort and for just plain looking cool, the Magpul ACS stock really fits the bill.

Still contemplating which one is better, but a Leupold mark AR mod 1 1.5-4x20 with illumination or a Wilson combat single stage match trigger.

Have that scope and love it. I really like that green dot. Circle in the reticle is easy to pick up even without the green dot turned on. Trigger is next and then free float.
