Hey All,

I have a very good condition FBI 1076-NS with original box, any ideas as what it is worth?

Serial Prefix is TFK, box has used label on it.

It was sent back to smith in ‘94, and the confirmed it was indeed an FBI send back.

Also you will noticed I posted pictures shaken the recall, the dimples under the de-cocker, the U on the trigger-guard etc.

Here she is with an accompanying 1066-NS
Thanks!

-Nathan

Very collectable, especially with the original box. Pricing could get really stupid high on that one. Keep it, it will only become more valuable.

As someone who hawkishly watches the market, I'd say closer to 1800 with that original box, and depending on how many mags you're including, could be upwards of 2k to the right bidder. Never know.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I know in the catalog it says 2x for verified FBI, so I guess I’m also asking what current 1076’s in box go for. My guess for a verified FBI was ~$1,800 with no box to $2k+ with box.

Really nice gun. There is a nice 1076 on a gun auction site now. It was owned by a now deceased Agent. The seller who is very reputable seems to think the Agent owning adds value. I have a non FBI 1076 and would love to own an FBI 1076. I was an FBI Agent and carried a 1076 on duty. The Agent who owned the 1076 in auction now I believe was retired by the time the FBI had 1076s Does an Agent owning one add any value?

It would to a collector of S&W related FBI POWs and issued weapons. There are more of those folks out there than you'd think. I'm one of them:) My wife is an agent and over the years we've amassed quite a few S&Ws that have an FBI agent provenance. I'd pay extra especially if the agent turned out to be one connected to a famous case. We have a Model 14 that was used in the arrest of Patty Hearst and a Model 1917 that was chopped and had the butt rounded and was carried by the head of the Las Vegas FO in the late 40s/early 50s. His wife told us that particular revolver got quite a bit of use in Vegas in those days:) We're keeping my wife's POWs and some day they'll have more value just because they were carried by a woman FBI agent. At least that's what we're telling our kids who they'll go to. :)
1800-2000 for the one in this thread if the box is marked FBI/same serial number on the end label is certainly a reasonable price. If it has the 9,11 and 15 round mags I think your looking closer at 3K for the package. Here's one that I posted about last week. http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-...76-9-11-15-round-mags.html?highlight=FBI+1076

It will be interesting to see what the one on GB right now, which includes both the Jinks letter and a notarized affidavit from the widow of the FBI agent who owned it, will go for. The documentation and "collector grade" entire package set this gun apart from the one owned by the OP, so whatever the eventual selling price, it is likely to be higher than what the OP can expect in the current market.

In my humble opinion, this is not the best time to sell, as there is softness in the market overall. But I also realize we can't always choose when we need to sell, and sometimes we have to accept what the market dictates. Based on comparables recently, I'm going to stick with around $1,400, though I certainly hope it would be more and think it should be, based on the desirability and rarity of these.

This gun invented the .40sw. It is very historically important. I would never sell 1076. Although. I did sell every 1066. 1086. 1006. 4506. And 4566 I ever owned. I don’t like the way they felt or shot.

Yes I think we could all agree the Smith and Wesson 1076 is special, but yes the market is very soft compared to what it was 5-10 years ago. The only way to tell the true market value is to set it at 100 bucks no reserve and let folks bid away. I have no idea what it would sell for could be like has been said 1400 or 1800 but then it could have 2-3 people in a bidding war then go for 2-3 grand. I would never sell my 1076 either but if you are looking to make money on it to finance another firearm then all power to you. It appears something is only worth what someone is willing to give for it at that point and time.

I reviewed the seller information and that gun has a lot of wear and tear on it and the emblems show obvious holster wear. I doubt it goes for as high as you think it does.
