Folks, if you're interested, I've received the 1920/1930's FBI applications for the Agent position covering legendary figures, "Jelly" Bryce, Jerry Campbell and Charles Winstead. I'm waiting on the app for Clarence Hurt.
All obtained under the FOIA Act.

Anyhow, they make for some interesting reading and I've posted them at our website. Go down the navigation column to find them. Go to:
Home - Dusty Roads Of An FBI Era

There are also some new photos in the photo gallery.

Enjoy the reading and feel free to pass on the link/info.

I forgot all about that site. Great stuff. Just read the article on Hoover's allegedly gay relationship with Tolson. It's pretty terrible that unprovable allegations can be stated as fact many years down the road tarnishing one's reputation and legacy.
This is just another reason why I despise the media so much. They've always done this to people and even killed people in some cases (Lady Diana)

Read the book about Bryce a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it. I grew up in western OK and remember lots of people talking about him.
As someone else said, thanks for the reminder about this link.

lw-That is one GREAT website!!! many thanks for it and all your hard work putting it together.

I've been reading it a lot. The link about "Hoover's Committee and Weapons Choices" is interesting with the report praising the 38 Spl. with the "Keith" bullet over the .45

Thank you for the link! Very interesting. I'm reading Bryce's biography now.

Jelly Bryce was a very interesting character. They don't make them like that anymore.

Bryce - continued

Enjoy the reading gents and thanks for your comments.

Bryce and Clarence Hurt were recruited into the Bureau by Agent George H. Franklin, an obscure name today, who served in the Oklahoma Field Office. Many of these Agents who came out of Southwest law enforcement were legends in their own times. If you get a minute, go back to the site and do a search of Franklin's name. It should take you to a long historical bio sent to me by his existing son. Franklin's role in local law enforcement, his personal affiliation with legendary character, Elfago Baca, and more is stuff that history is made of.

cheers

I am just finishing reading the book "LEGENDARY LAWMAN" now. Very interesting reading. But we need more pictures of his guns.

You have a great site. I've had it bookmarked for the past couple of years and I go to it frequently. Terrific history there.

I just spent 3 hours at your website, and I'm not finished yet. Great reading. Thank you very much for your work in preserving history from such an important time in law enforcement.

Coolness, I didn't know there was a book about Bryce.
