I have some Federal 130 grain .357 ammo that I haven't shot yet. Probably soon...Says Personal Defense on it.

Is this pretty rough on the shooter out of a Ruger SP-101, three-inch bbl.?

I'm concerned that I'll have to re-sight my adj. sighted .357's to use it, and don't want to do that.

I'd prefer 158 grain bullets in full-sized guns, but one uses what one can find, these days.

I tried some of these rounds in my old 4" Model 28. They were pretty hot, surprisingly. Flop-Shank is absolutely right- Some guns shoot certain rounds differently and the only way you can tell is to try. Any round you consider for self defense, you should test it before you carry it if possible. For example, my 28 shoots 38+P 125gr, 357 145gr Silvertips and 357 173gr LSWC all at the same point of aim. My Model 19 is sighted in for 145gr 357 but will not hit point of aim with the other loads like my 28 does. All guns shoot just a bit differently.

If you can find them, the 357 145gr Silvertip is an excellent defense round for a three incher. They are hot enough to be magnum, but are mild enough that they are easy to handle. Those and the 147+P+ 38 are my duty rounds of choice.
