Found this little thing earlier today. What could of caused it? Same exact bullet. It just looks like it sunk in.

It was. I pulled it out of my wifes gun when i was checking it out. Flopped out and noticed it felt different then noticed it was much shorter. Thought it was a 380 at first!

Either a foul-up at the factory, or bullet set-back (where repeat chambering and ejecting of the live round pushes the bullet inward -- might increase pressure and make for an unsafe round, do not fire).

Yup not gonna shoot it. I wonder if she went to load it and went to close the slide and the bullet dropped out a little and the slide slammed against the bullet and pushed it in. lucky it didnt go off. So what should i do with this? Not just gonna toss it in the trash.

Like Hapworth said, probably "Set-Back". Might want to keep an eye on that weapons function.

If you or any of your friends have a bullet puller, take is apart and then dispose of it. If you want, you could safely fire off the primer, before you dispose of it. If not take it with you the next time you go to an indoor range. They'll help you dispose if it!

This is what I would say too. I doubt that it came out of the box like that. I would think that you would have noticed that big of a discrepancy in the rounds while loading the magazine.

Cool, i got a guy at work that makes me bullets out of casings i bring him, i bet hes got a puller. The gun is a 3953, even if my wife couldnt shoot the guy, she could beat him over the head with that sledgehammer

That company crimp might be a wee bit light...........

I took a few factory loads apart to see what was going into them.
A Speer load had a gel at the base of the bullet, one had a sealer on the bottom half of the bullet that darkened the jacket,
I believe to hold the bullet better?

Some "Friction fits" do not hold up well with a lot of handling..............
If I chamber a round and do not fire it........ when removed from the chamber it goes into a "used ammo" box, just incase the bullet was disturbed.

Glad you caught that......
and stay safe.

Toss it in the trash.

The worst that can happen is the bulldozer at the landfill might run it over just right and a small pop will occur.

Or it goes to the incinerator and a similar small pop.
