Feeling spent or wore out, even on long weekends?

Not getting enough sleep will mess up your energy level big time. Even throwing off a sleep pattern will screw with you big time. Yeah swing shifts suck even if it pays more money.

I could be something as simple as low iron or something much more serious. Going to the doctor for a full exam is pretty much mandatory at this point (imho).

Let me echo all those that said 'see a doctor'.

A few years back I had been feeling puny for months and Ruthie forced me to get checked out.

I had stage IV cancer.

Ya just never know.

My wife and I usta work 12 hour overnight shifts at the Rubbermaid Commercial Products factory. Our commute was an hour each way.
There were times when we had to stop and take a nap on the way home, we were so tired.
On our days off we were to exhausted to do anything but rest up to go back to work.
Yeah they paid well but we had no time to enjoy life.
When we found out that there was a Hunter Douglas Window Treatments factory hiring 'bout a half hour from home and we'd work in 8 hour shifts, we jumped at the chance.
We didn't make as much but we didn't spend all of our off time exhausted and resting up to go back to work. We had time and energy to go out and play.

I’ve been working shifts since I joined the Marines in ‘95. The past 17 years I’ve been doing 12 hour shifts with 4 days off, and swapping each 4 days from nights to days. I can tell you that testosterone is a life saver. I’m 42 and have been taking injections for the past 8 years. I also try to keep up a work out regimen. Ambien is also a shift workers best friend for going to sleep and not wake up feeling drowsy. And last but not least you can look into the prescription drug Modafinil for shift worker syndrome. They are great to give you a little pick me up for the second half of your shift. Either way I think a trip to the doctors office is in order.
Good luck

Another issue to look at is quality of sleep. If you have apnea it can totally wreck the quality of whatever sleep you do get. I used to sleep 8 hours a night but still always felt tired. I also had a serious case of sleep apnea. I could fall asleep just about anytime and anyplace - in fact NOT falling asleep anytime I sat still was a struggle. Once we resolved the apnea issue, 8 hours a night is more than enough sleep and I am not nearly so tired all the time. I actually have to try to fall asleep most of the time - including if I want to take a Sunday afternoon nap ;)

I am going to second this. Get the sleep study done to see if you have sleep apnea. You no longer have to go to some strange place to sleep. You can get a monitor to wear when you sleep in your own bed. When I took the test they discovered I had 43 sleep stoppages an hour.

Easy to understand now the running gag in town about how I could fall asleep sitting up at the bar in the VFW and American Legion. I don't do that anymore since I got on the CPAP machine. I am now averaging less than 1 sleep stoppage an hour. One night I had no sleep stoppages at all.

Since I got the CPAP machine last February, I have lost some weight, my diabetes has improved and I get a good solid 7 hours of sleep a night. I have more energy, ambition, creativity and problem solving ability. I could kick myself for not doing this sooner. The only justification I have is that I was dealing with other medical issues before. Go for it!

I could not countenance being chemically dependent just to do my job.

And that is the great thing about this country, we are all free to make our own choices. What works for one person may not work for the next. This works for me and makes me a much better person to be around. And best of all my daughters have a father now who is active and able to go out and do outdoor activities similar to how I was raised. Shift work is not for everyone but it works for me. YMMMV

What are the side effects from Testerone shots?

Well one side effect my wife enjoys very much!! Wink Wink The others are weight loss and energy. I am checked up every 3 months at the doc to check my levels. It can make your blood thicker if you take more then recommended. And mess with your liver. But as long as you keep your blood checked and follow the docs orders you shouldn’t have any problems.
I went from having no energy or libido to feeling like I was in my mid twenties again. Also lost 65lbs and am back down to the weight I was in the Marines at 200lbs, and enjoy working out again!! It also was instrumental in me kicking my pain pill habit that I picked up from 2 bulged and one ruptured disk and a severely broken right leg and ankle. There are pins, brackets, screws, and a chain in my right leg from my knee to my ankle and didn’t think I would ever run again. But am now able to go to the gym or take the dog for a 2-3 mile run on my days off.
I can’t say that in the time I have been taking the testosterone that I have had any negative side effects.

I take testosterone and the increased sex drive is a significant side effect, I think about it all the time and luckily my wife is pretty accommodating. Sometimes I also feel hotter than normal and like the A/C turned a little lower, and at first it also seemed to increased my appetite but I don't notice that now. I go to gym every week and have actually gained about 7 lbs but have lost a couple of inches off my waist and look a little harder, more defined, and vascular and I'm 59 years old.
