I have never bought more than 1 gun at a time (please forgive me). My question is: Do you have to pay a seperate FFL fee for each gun on a multiple gun purchase or is the one fee good for all?

If you buy a second gun from the same dealer within 30 days you don't need to pay a separate fee. If you buy the second gun within 30 days at a different dealer, you have to pay again. Around here it's a mere $5, so no big deal.
If you buy two at once, only one fee, but the dealer has to file a report of a multiple purchase.

I'm not sure I understand the question.
In 50 years, I have never paid any FFL fees when buying a gun from any FFL.
However, I have paid from 20-40 dollors when I use my FFL to record a gun that was sent to him in my behalf.

Do you mean the transfer fee or do you mean the Brady background check fee?

For transfers, it is a matter of the individual FFL holder's policies and practices, just like most other prices.

My FFL came up with a novel arrangement recently. For a flat fee of $50 a year, he will handle all of my transfers, both incoming and outgoing. He normally charges $10-$20 per transfer. For someone that does a fair amount of buying and selling over the internet, that can be a great deal.

If you are talking transfer fee it is up to the dealer and prices vary. One local dealer in IL charges $50 for the first gun and $40 for all others transfered at the sametime.

The Bradly check is a flat fee per call NOT per gun.

In the Peoples Republic of NY, all the local FFL dealers in my area (Orange County) charge a $50 fee, when they handling incoming shipping transfers. There is no fee for shipping out. I wish there was someone cheaper.

Help out a dumb Midwesterner, do some of you get charged for a NICS check? Is there a fee for the FFL to sell you a gun? I understand a fee for a transfer from another dealer (around here it's $25 to $40) I just don't know about any others.

Sorry for the confusion. I was asking about the transfer fees. Most are $40 around me. I didn't know if this was per gun or per transaction (multiple guns being shipped to him from the same seller).

I pay a small time friend $15 for a transfer. The local range charges $25-40 for a transfer. In the local economy, anything in excess of $25 is probably excessive.

For a handgun, the cheapest in my area is $29. (Guess who I use...) Most are $35-$50. Some will do a long gun for $10 less than a handgun. I know of one that will discount for a second purchase at the same time, but that's only from $45 down to $35 for the additional. If you don't have a concealed pistol permit, I know at least one who will charge you $45 for the NICS call too.

I know they're a business, and they can set whatever price they want, but $45 for a 5 minute phone call? Really?

No need to apologize I thought I knew what you were asking. I saw a couple posts that seemed to mention that they are charged for the NICS check. That's what I'm asking about. If they're getting charged for a 2 minute phone call I'd find another dealer.

Bill, I don't know about NICS, because we in Florida don't do that. The call-in here is handled by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Seems like when we first started that dumb call-in, it was ten dollars. Then it went down to eight. Now it's five, but FDLE charges the dealer, and the dealer charges us.

As to the original question, it really depends on the dealer. I've had some charge, say 20 dollars to do a transfer, and if I have two guns come in they charge me forty. I've had dealers charge me 20 for the first one and 10 each for any others, that same time. And I've got one that charges me 25 (20 for him plus the 5.00 call-in) no matter how many I have come in.

Everett has a FFL that charges $25 for handguns. Look up the pawnshop on Wetmore Ave. Great guy to deal with.

The one I've been using for years just increased theirs from from $25 to $35 including the NCIS check for transfers. So go figure it's a 50% increase for those with a carry permit.

The good about them is they wave the fee if you spend over $100 during that visit and now a little extra incentive to spend if the bucks are available.

In Virginia it goes through the Virginia State Police. They charge the dealer $2.00. The dealer (at least the one I buy everything from) passes that $2.00 on to the customer.

I have no idea what they charge for a transfer fee around here. Never wanted to do one really.

Here in California (where a lot of things cost a lot more) the local gun shop charges $100.00 plus .$25.00 fpr DROS. I'm using a "Kichen Table" dealer that is charging $50.00 plus DROS.

I've never lived anywhere that required a fee for the NICS. My two dealers I used in NC charged $15 & 20 for a transfer and that seemed fair enough.

I stopped in a shop in Dallas I have never seen before (just typed in "gun" into my GPS and it was on a back street) that claims to have been in the same spot for 40 years. I asked how much a transfer was, he asked "what kind of gun"?

I didn't think there would be a different price so I just asked what all of they were. He said $40 for handguns from a FFL, $60 from an individual but some guns would be more? Huh????

They had ten handguns, closest I saw any interest in was an old nickle M&P that was rusty with mismatched parts for $250. Guess I won't be going back there again.

Thanks. I appreciate the info. For me, The $29 guy in Bellevue is a 15 mile round trip. Everett would be 40. Since even at Costco a gallon of regular is $3.75, the extra gallon of gas pretty much negates the $4 saving. If I go to Bellevue I won't be tempted to buy another gun, since he only sells factory new. If I go to a pawnshop who knows what I might find that I just HAVE to spend more money on? ;) So I guess I'm going there sometime today. It's going to be a beautiful day for a drive.

My dealer charges $25 as a transfer fee. If I receive 2 guns in one shipment, it's only $25. If I get 2 guns in 2 days, it's $25 each.
