Wife and I just finished putting up 30 pints of fig preserves. The tree is loaded this year. There are going to be a few more to pick tomorrow, but I think I will give them to my brother.

Now I look forward to a cold January evening; a brace of fried quail, a bowl of steaming hot grits, hot black coffee, and buttered homemade biscuits with fig preserves.

It'll make me wonder what the po' folks are having for supper.;)

Wow!!! You guys are quite a bit earlier than we are. We have six fig bushes , they are Brown Turkey and Celeste verities. I was outside today looking at them and you are right, they are absolutely loaded, But , They are still green as grass, not a one ripe. David

That sounds really good. When I lived in CA I was about 2 blocks away from a place that dried fruit.

One of my favorites was the dried figs, I always had some in the house.

What's your address again?:D

Oh yeah! There isn't anything better than a few buttered biscuits topped with homemade fig preserves. Like you, we picked them right out of the yard and Mother cooked them up on the stoves.
