finally..29-6 with Leupold came home

Tamer grip

Thanks guys, I am so grateful for the lead on the x-frame tamer.

This is honestly the best grip on any of my smiths hands down. I was never a fan of round buts because of the smallish and cramped stock grips until this came along. It covers the back strap and is beefy thereby making room for my long finger. Perfect distance now for my finger mid pad and this will aid in accuracy a lot. Dry firing already improved.

As you can see, on a round but N frame this thing fits perfectly and better. The top of the back strap has a gel insert, fit is snug, quality top notch. Too bad I don't own any more round N frames to put this on.

S&W shipped super fast, in the meantime I see that also on amazon for $29. I can strongly recommend this for large hand guys and gals.

Dieseltech, the the X frame grips will fit the round butt N frame fine. (I just tried it to double check myself) And they'll look and feel better than the electrical tape and sleeve.

l am quite fond of electrical tape on some of my grips.. Gives em

a Custom Look. Esp when using the Bi Seal type

Just bought a new M-29 too. Had been using a M-28 that I custom converted to .44 (first photo). The new M-29 was a trade in sitting in the glass cabnet for $699 like new. Used it today with 8.0 Unique pushing a 240 Speer in mag case (second photo), as you can see had to give it a few clicks right after this photo was taken..

Everything I shoot is long barrel scoped, started with a useless Leupold 2x. now at 7x. For over two years have been using every weekend $39.99 Chinese 2-7x32 scopes. On all mine now, stand up stellar to all the magnums all the recoil weekend after weekend.

cool, it's loads of fun. I have that one but take it out a lot...

best load w HS-6

I tried to figure out the best load which took me a little time and thanks much to some folks commenting and helping.

I'd say this is a good load:
4 shots at 25 yards:
8.4 gr HS-6
Starline 44 special case
Sierra 210 gr JHP vintage made in California
CCI 350 magnum primer

The primer did make a difference after all: Tried CCI300, WLP and finally CCI350 which did the trick and no unburned powder.

I am happy as a clam with this gun, scope and load. Will go to 100 yards now again and on from there...

I appreciate you getting back with that load. I need to try it in my 44 Spls.
I've been messing with a RedDot (promo) load just for kicks, but haven't really tried to work up a load.

I've got a 4 5/8" Ruger Bisley 44 Spl, and a Taurus 431 (3" 5-shot, sort of between a K and L frame) that I really need to show some love.

I too have X-Frame grips on my Lew Horton M629 Magnum Hunter. At the time I ordered mine, the S&W website said they fit round butt 629s. Don't know iffin they changed anything but the product description since, but I love 'em on mine. Much better for woods usage than the wood stocks that came with it, especially with heavy hunting loads. My 629 likes 240 grainers and they also seem to work the best on our Wisconsin Whitetals......at least for me.

Sounds like you really like those $39.99 scopes and hate the useless Leupold. I have come up with a win-win situation here; I will gladly pay you $39.99 (plus shipping) for the useless Leupoold scope. You can add another Chinese scope to your collection, and I can add another useless Leupold to mine.

PM me for details, and thanks in advance.

useless Leupold love

Leupolds are so useless that I do not own any others.

I have 3 rifles and the one scoped Smith and all 4 are Leupold.

I sum it up like this:

-Optics are clear and sharp
-Great fit and finish
-Easy to use simple and intuitive controls
-No nonsense 'follows function' design, classic looks matches any firearm
-Made in this great country
-Customer service and warranty are 'don't ask- don't tell', they will fix or most likely replace anything no matter how old or worn without a flinch
-If there is no Leupold I won't buy it.
