Been wanting a CS9 for a couple years. I'm not a rich guy, so waiting for the right deal to come along. I never thought I'd see one in LGS so been watching online for some time. For very nice shape, plus shipping, plus FFL transfer, typically $600+ by the time it's in my hands. I wanted early stainless version, with left side only safety, which narrowed my auction choices even more. One showed up recently at LGS in truly like new condition! Couldn't even see evidence of firing. No box, 2 mags, $400 out the door! Now we're talking!

This is for concealed carry. Looking for stealth/concealability on this one, as I have 3913's already. Wife wanted something smaller for summer carry, but wanted to stick with all metal, DA/SA trigger, and 9mm. As you all know, that is a tough thing to find out there, and to my knowledge the CS9 is the smallest pistol to fit all these criteria. (Many options in plastic, DAO, or striker of course).

What I've done to it:
First off, installed new recoil spring (midway $3).
I had a gray delrin grip that I removed from my 3913NL just sitting around. I figured what the hell...I'm very handy, have dremel and tools, and cash poor, I'll try fitting it up myself. If I trashed it, I'd just save up for BigDog's. It's slow painstaking work, probably 5+ hours all told. I'm quite happy with the result. Fit's tight and aligns like factory. I don't like the plastic rear sight, as no set screw and I can push it out with my thumb! So I fitted with refurb 3913 rear (thanks nocents!). Birchwood dayglow green front dot, dayglow red for rear dots (like I do on all my 3 dot sights). Eventually I want to get trijion night sights for it, but good for now. I don't like small gap between back of slide and sight, but slide is milled different on 3913, so it is what it is. Lastly, to make it even smaller and print less...I replaced mag pinky base plate with metal plate for Kahr MK9 (perfect fit, thanks to you guys). Fits in the front pocket of my khaki shorts!

Edit: RANGE REPORT: Love it! added image of first target, first several mags, on first range session at 50' off hand firing 1 shot about every 2 seconds. I'm no expert, and I know this pistol could do much better in the right hands & with right ammo. I really don't ever shoot my 3913's any better than this...and I have thousands of rounds of practice on those. No failures of any kind using 115gr Federal, or 124gr Blazer brass. Really fun to shoot, and wife was doing great with it too (she's already trying to adopt!)

Nice very nice CS9 you have there. Your mods turned out very nice also.
I hunted for one for 3 years also. When I found one it was NIB and a little north of $600. I bought it and it's still NIB. Maybe some day.

You got a outstanding deal on the price. The mods you did with the grip and sites look great. You did some very nice work, now go out and shoot that bad boy. Enjoy

Great price is an understatement! Seems $550-600 is often the going price around my area. I do like the sights on yours. Mine still the way I bought it back in 99 and I for one like the "Goodyears" Thanks for showing.

I really like the feel of the stock grips. Fit my hand quite nice, especially with pinky extension mag. Certainly more comfy than the modded...Just not a fan of the width and stickiness for concealed IWB carry, etc. Going for thinnest/smallest.

Nicely done.

I wanted a CS-9 for a long time myself and a member here turned me onto one earlier last year on a forum in the southeast. Happy happy am I! It is so much closer to perfection in sub-compact 9mm than any "modern" 9mm in plastic (okay, polymer), it beats DAO unless you really, really like DAO in a pistol, and easily beats striker fired, tricky trigger modern tools. Some folks YMMV but I think that you and I agree totally.

I carry mine routinely; as much as I like to carry a snubby K frame, and I do carry one a great deal, the CS-9 is just EASIER to carry all day, it conceals more easily and is actually more comfortable. If I need more firepower I can switch to a 6906 but I rarely feel like doing that.

I wasn't fussy about blue or stainless so the blue one I acquired was perfect. The grips are "BigDog style" - I have been advised that they are not truly BigDog's so I called them "style" to be as honest as possible.

I will replace the recoil spring, maybe magazine springs, too, and I really like your idea of tinkering with the sights. We shall see; good concepts there!

Nice score and very nice work. As you will find out, the CS9 is a very accurate pistol, especially for its size. Had 1 years ago, should not have let it go. Live and learn. Enjoy, be safe.

Nice work, smithfan!

Now, file a couple of steps off of the slide release and safety levers (or go full DAO, if you dare) and you'll have the stealthiest CS9 on the planet!

John

Nice job on the grips, and congrats on the new CS9! It's a great little pistol for CC, very low profile with the MK9 magplate as well.

Thanks TercGen...coming from you, that's a real compliment! I don't think you charge enough :) Although I'm sure you have the process down to a point that it doesn't require installing and removing the grip approximately 215,368 times during the grinding/fitting/drilling processes. Now I want a blued one (oh my...it never ends).

Actually, I put the grips on and off a few dozen times for each set I make, sometimes doing quite a bit of setup work for a single step that takes a moment. I have a system but each grip is fitted to the gun in order to ensure the best fit possible. As you found out, it can be quite an arduous process (but well worth it in the end :)).

That looks real Good. And doing your own Mods will make it even more special to you. Tell the wife Congrats on her new carry pistol!!

Congrats! You scored a great little pistol for an excellent price. Nice job setting it up the way you want it too.

I have an early black CS9. I did something similar, installing the excellent TercGen grips with a rubber grip sleeve, for summertime use. In the winter I use the factory OEM Hogue grips.

I am leaving the factory sights on as they work fine for me, at this point.

You are absolutely correct, the CS9 is a hammer fired little gem in a sea of striker fired plastic with lousy triggers and spotty reliability. The CS9 doesnt come up for sale much, because those that have them are keeping them. ;)

Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI

Nice CS9! I've kind of been looking for one to go with its bigger bulleted brother, the CS40. But both the CS9 and CS45 are rare birds down here.

I was actually shocked to find it at a LGS. And in this condition, and price even better. The guy at the counter said he thought a guy bought it a day before, but must have backed out. He was clueless about them, and called it "ugly"...can you believe that????

I like the blued version myself yoda. Back in 99 I had my choice naturally as I ordered it. Had a tough time deciding but settled on stainless. If a blued one becomes available though I would jump on it

Keep an eye on GB....one went a couple weeks ago, black version, low round count 2 mags and box for $405...only 1 bid! I was going to try for it, but wanted stainless and that one at LGS came up for $400 (no shipping or transfer fees, love that). Point is...those killer deals still out there!
