I finally "pulled the trigger" and bought a Shield 9 this morning. After a thorough disassembly, cleaning, and light oiling, I put about 100 various FMJ factory loads and Hornady Critical Defense rounds thru it. All I can say is wow, why didn't I get one sooner.

It's my first striker fire pistol so it took a few shots to get use to the trigger, but once I did I thought it was very consistent and accurate. I think I just found my new EDC. Guess I'll be looking for a good leather pancake holster for it now.

Striker fired pistols are very nice. :)

Have fun.....post a cool pic when you get a chance.

Congrats and enjoy,

I liked the 9mm M&P Shield so much I bought a second one for the wife and she loves it.. It's a sweet little pistol for the money and it does a great job at what it was designed to do. A very nice well thought out CCW weapon.

Enjoy your new shield, take care of it and it will take care of you.

Congrats on your new Shield. I recently bought both a 40 and 9mm and I'm wondering why I waited so long! They are both very accurate and no issues with either. I just started carrying the 9mm and as soon as I run some 40 cal. defensive rounds through the Shield 40, I'll put that into rotation as well. Have fun and enjoy!! :-)

I love my new shield also. ran another 60-70 rounds through it yesterday. it just keeps getting better.

soon, it will rotate in as my EDC. taking the place of my Springfield EMP

Congrats on your new pistol. I bought an NTS 9mm Shield this spring and love it. I bought the DeSantis mini-slide with thumb strap which is a pancake type holster and the combo works well together. tom.

I'm exactly the opposite. My wife has one, and I like it as much as she does. I currently carry a full-size M&P45, but I am seriously considering getting a Shield for the smaller profile and lighter weight.

Grats on the new Shield. Super carry gun that would fill the bill as "only gun" if someone wanted to go that route. I love my Lobo Gun Leather enhanced pancake holster, but it takes a while to get one as he seems to have a backlog. Worth the wait though, IMO.

I also have a full size M&P 45 but where I live the weather gets pretty hot. It is much easier to carry the 9mm Shield or my Glock 27. IWB holster and a light loose fitting shirt works well in the hot weather conditions. It would not be so easy to carry the full size M&P 45 in this way without primping issues. So for me the smaller pistols serve there purpose well.

It gets hot here, too, but I don't wear shorts. I wear jeans all the time and carry in a tuckable holster, so concealment isn't usually an issue. I just keep thinking the smaller profile and lighter weigh would be nice.
