Great score at the Phoenix Crossroads Gun Show on Saturday!

I had given up trying to nail a 686-4 Seven-hole, 2.5" with original matching number box. Damned hard to find!

Well I stumbled on one last Saturday. I had to do a double-take and then had to control myself! I couldn't believe it! Didn't have to think twice. VERY fair price, no shipping fees, no GB premium, no CC fees, and no FFL transfer fees. And it came with the S&W papers and the original buyer's sales receipts. Very few rounds through it judging from virtually no flame cutting in the top strap. No Bubba'd side plate screws either.

Now meet the new addition to my S&W Stainless Combat Collection!

(Now I'm on the prowl for a nice set of OEM combat grips!)

i bought a -4 6 shot 2.5 inch with the older cylinder release, Been looking for one and like you stumbled on it ANIB condition could not have asked for nicer one. Congrats on your find.

Nice seven shot 686! I picked one up some years ago and even thought about about selling it a few times but realized that I would regret doing so. So it has keeper status for the time being.

Yeah, picked up my 2.5” 7 shot on a selfish whim. Was at a Reno show a few years ago and saw it on a table. Already having a LH no dash, and two -3s, all like new with combats, I didn’t really need a 4th; however, for $650 I wasn’t going to let anyone else take her home. It wasn’t until a few hours later when I cut off the wire tie that I noticed something was different. Son of a gun, it had 7 holes! Bonus! :D

Same here! I won mine on gunbroker auction where the listing never mentioned it was a 7 shot and did not have pics of the open cylinder. Was really surprised when it arrived and was the 7 shot!

That is sure a nice example. I started carrying an L-Frame soon after they were introduced, and owned several since. I had a similar 2 1/2" -4 a few years ago. Much as I like the K and N frames, the 686s have become my favorite .357s..

OP I won’t ask what you paid for it. But what is date and price on original receipt?

As requested, attached is the original 1996 purchase receipt. Didn't take long for it to sell. SpecOrder on case was 6207.

(I wound up gladly forking over "a little over a grand" for this jewel nearly 27 years later. Please... no hissing...:D)

Got them grips the other day and an old style thumb latch too. Now this jewel is dressed out the way I like 'em!
