Finally got a Model 60 in a local FTF trade. Given the recent crazy prices this gun has been selling for, the few bucks I added was well worth it to seal the deal. Ser#R103xxx dates it somewhere in the mid70's. Anybody have a better idea of what year? Thanks.

I cannot help with dating, but any M60 with a
decent price on it, would probably follow me home.
Sounds like you found a winner, sure like to see pics
when you can find time.

Hope you like it as much as I do. Are you using factory or aftermarket grips? I am a fan of wood. I will admit I'm not shooting .357 or +P loads.

Shooter, this a .38sp and I am using 148gr.wadcutters. It came with factory S&W banana grips, not the originals. Standard pressure stuff works fine for me and it still hurts my hands.

I agree! I recently picked up an early 80's model 60, and for a snubbie it is very accurate & shoots right on the money. Surprisingly, it also has a very smooth double action pull, and an almost "target grade" single action pull(hence the suberb accuracy, I bet). And they are almost indestuctible as a carry gun due to the stainless finish. I've always read these were "THE" gun to have in Vietnam. Do you mind telling us what you paid? I got mine for $400 OTD and considering how my gun shoots, I am very happy! Enjoy your new toy. :-)

Everytime I read these 60 threads, a little tear comes to my eye (well, almost). I stupidly traded off a 3" barrel Model 60 over 15 years ago. It had no lock or other monstrosity on it. I bought it ANIB for a good price as it had been shot hardly at all. I had a well regarded wheel-gun smith do an action job on it and that revolver was smmmmooooth. Unfortunately the fellow later moved out of the area. I traded that fine gun away for something else and have been regretting it ever since. What was I thinking ?! From that time forward I decided to keep any gun that caught my fancy enough to decide to buy it. Unless its a complete mechanical clunker, I don't sell them now. Because of that Model 60 (and a few other guns), I learned my lesson.

My wife had a model 60. She shot 2 rounds of .357 and gave up. I thought she was holding the gun wrong or something so I tried it. Two shots later we were on the way to our LGS to get a new gun. That thing slapped my hand like a mule on crack.
