Finally got to shoot my model 41...maybe it's just me.

While it is a truly awesome gun, beautiful and smooth, it just didn't "move" me like I thought it would. It's a tackdriver and put them right where they should go, but I just had a lot more fun with my 617. Maybe I need to give it more time (and hope something doesn't come along that I'd like to trade for ;) )

:) Yes I think it is just you.:D:D Seriously I think if you will shoot it more you will get used to it. It is a different kind of gun than your M617. The M41 has a different trigger and the grips take some getting used to. Hang in there you will like it. Don

It's definitely me. The more I thought about it, I decided that having a gun that can be a dedicated target gun when I've got others to plink with isn't exactly a bad situation to be in :D I've just never had anything like it and it's taking some getting used to. I think I'll deal with it just fine :p

Give it a chance. You bought a quality shooter. If I could only own one pistol the 41 would be it.

I lusted after a M41 and finally snagged one off the internet. I have to say that I enjoy it much more than my other .22 handguns. I have two Ruger pistols, a MKI and a MKII as well as a Single six. I also have a Thompson Contender with the 10" barrel. None of them hold a candle to how well I can shoot the M41. The grip feels great and the sights are great. If I still had the ability to focus like I did when younger this pistol would really be fantastic.

I have toyed with the idea of having it tapped for a red dot or scope but hate to take away from the looks and handling of such a nice pistol.

I'd love to put a scope on it but I'm not going to drill & tap it. Someday I'll buy a new barrel that is d&t so I can do so. But, in the mean time I may try one of the Aimtech mounts that replaces the right side grip panel and gives you a mounting rail.

They do take a little getting use to but my 7 3/8 inch 1968 Model 41 has become my favorite shooter. I mean I still like shooting my K22 but it's not the same as shooting the Model 41. The Model 41 is just such a great gun and it is so easy to shoot well.

I really love mine.sit perfectly in my hand, very, very accurate, smoooth trigger, etc.Have this gun for 18 years, shoot a lot and no single problem.
Before,I had several higher end .22 and this one is the best/and beautiful too/
