First and foremost, my deep appreciation to Bret, Phil, and the rest the community for all of the great knowledge and insight, which this board has afforded me with regard to the M&P 15-22.

I finally picked up my 15-22 (DTZxxxx), last Friday afternoon. Took it home and . . . Made sure the barrel nut was properly tightened (thank you, Shoo) . . . Cleaned all the factory grud from the exterior of the barrel . . . Ran a bore snake through the barrel a couple of times . . . Blew out the Fire Control Group . . . A quick cleaning of the bolt assembly and oiled the bolt and the rails.

Then, I installed all of the goodies, which I had waiting for my new toy.

- Hogue grip
- Primary Arms Gen 3 Micro Dot w/riser and kill flash
- Magpul CTR
- Magpul MBUS front and rear
- Magpul AFG

I have a JP spring kit. However, I did not install it. I will probably install the 3 springs after another 250 rounds.

Now, since Friday afternoon, I have managed 3 sessions at the indoor range. I have run some 750 rounds without any malfunctions. Gotta love it!

The PA Gen 3 micro dot definitely surprised me. It is a great addition and offered stellar performance.

At the indoor range with a front rest and the PA micro dot at 25 yards, my best target sheet managed consistent 1-1/2" groupings. This was during slow fire. My best slow fire grouping was 5/8". During quick fire (50 rounds) with a 3" Birchwood Casey target, I blew out the 1" center and keep everything inside the 2" circle.

After 3 range sessions, I am quite pleased with the M&P 15-22. Ammo used was all 40 grain, copper plated, round nose, and high velocity . . . CCI Mini Mags, Fiocchi, Aguila SuperExtra.

Sorry, I will post pics, later. I am too lazy to do so, at the moment. :p

In the next couple of weeks, I will try to get to the outdoor range and shoot at 50 yards. Prior to that, I will probably have installed the JP spring kit.

I just finish a detail strip of the bolt assembly. Took the rail, guide rod, spring and extractor a part. It was filthy. Got the rail channel on the bolt all nice shiny and clean. I didn't want attempt taking the firing pin out. I'll have to take a closer look at it, later.

Oh, I was not paying attention and the extractor spring, pin, and extractor took off sailing across my work bench. After a few frantic minutes, I found all 3 parts . . . Whew!

Considering the cost to shoot 22lr., I will be spending much more time shooting the 15-22 and my 22lr. pistols. This is my first 22lr. rifle. I do not know why I waited so long to get one.

Thank you, everyone! ;)
