From what I understand, even though the Republicans control both the House and Senate, it'll still need some Democrat votes in order to make it to the Governor's desk. If it fails this time, it will be by only a handful of votes.

Campus Carry and Open Carry Bills get introduced every session and the Governors always state that if a Bill makes it to his desk, they'll sign it, but they never seem to make it to his desk.

I know MY Senator and Rep will vote for it... I hope it makes it this time.

Bill passed Monday afternoon by a vote of 20-11, strictly along party lines.

Sad to say, it appears the politicians are the same here in Texas as DC, instead of voting what they believe is right, they vote what their party leadership says.

One of the admendments is it won't go into effect until 2016. What horse hocky puck.

Now it goes to the State House of Representatives.

...and the State House of Reps is where the problem will be.
I don't believe there's enough Republican (and Pro 2A Democrat) votes to pass.

You guys still need to get rid of that training requirement and bring down the cost for your license. Training? To practice a right? Also $140 to start and $70 to renew? Forget about it.

Since this fine thread hasnt been updated--ill up date it. Open Carry passed both Senate and House--strictly along party lines. Same thing for Campus carry. There are two or more other gun bills making the rounds but--I dont know what they contain? or even if they have been voted on yet?

Forgot tomention--alsosigned into law--but imnot sure when the law goes in to effect? since the other party wanted somekind of a delay...

So OC is now law, but a delay is in effect?

No... After passing the Senate Vote, it goes to the House for a vote, THEN gets plopped on the Governor's Desk (where it COULD sit for Months) for signature, THEN it gets assigned a date to go into affect. Seems like many go into effect either in Oct., or the First of the Year.

I dunno where Ringo Kid got his info, but I just checked the Texas Legislature site ( Texas Legislature Online - 84(R) History for SB 17 ) and the status for SB17 says it was just received by the house... So officially, there have been NO House votes recorded on it.

Same goes for Campus Carry (SB11) ( Texas Legislature Online - 84(R) History for SB 11 )
Neither have been discussed, or voted upon by the House.

HB910 just got out of 'Committee Review' and has not had any Discussions, let alone votes, by anyone.

I got my news from watching ABC,NBC and CBS nightly news as well as three local news stations that said both Senate and House passed it and that Abbott already signed it. Also--on Campus Carry--they:::local news stations this time::: said it passed and was about to be signed into law. All local Universities in the area--were also on the news and telling of what they planned on as to rules for students carrying and such. Anyway, they said they would be following the law.I also heard it on the local radio station I was listening to.

On open carry--that is not what I heard in the various news reports I saw. They had mentioned that the House voted in it--and the votes--as with open carry--went along party lines--which means--the Reps were for it--the dems werent.

Got some links??? I can't find any feeds about them passing and the official Legislature sites don't confirm.

I want to believe you, but I can't confirm.
