Hello to everyone.
Back at the first of December, I was at a gun show and bought myself a very nice model 29-2, blued with a 4 inch barrel. Later that month I was put in the hospital for almost 8 weeks. Fast-forward to July I traded and bought two model 629's. Now the problem, I couldn't find ammo for these guns. Today I went to the Wal-Mart early so I would have the grocery buying out of the way. As usual, I always check the ammo cabinet. And today finally I found some 44 magnum ammo for my guns. The store still has the 3 box limit, they only had 2 boxes of the Winchester 240gr JSP, so I bought both of them. All of the gun stores in my area have all been out of any 44 ammo. I was wondering if any of you have had the same trouble with finding the 44 ammo. Thanks, Ray

I have seen 44 Magnum and 45 Colt ammo more often that any other ammo but of course, the prices are sky-high on both.

44mag ammo is quite scarce in my neck of Texas. 22lr not so much but 44mag has been simply unavailable except for PD ammo. Funny, PD ammo for 44mag. It's as if a 240 grain bullet can't get the job done and one needs custom PD ammo. Strange.

One caliber I haven't seen is 44-40. It just doesn't exist in any form. Not like I spend a lot of time shooting a 96 year old Colt in 44-40 these days but the occasional range trip would be nice.

Reloading will solve your ammo shortage with a considerable cost savings to go with it.

I can't afford the prices of store bought 44mag ammo. I reload, and cast my own boolits with lead reclaimed from the berm.

My local Altoona Walmart finally had ANY ammo on the shelf. I saw 13 boxes of 38 special. I was shocked to see any ammo at all.
