Hey all,
I'm currently looking at buying a M&P .45 and was wondering where y'all bought ammunition from and how much at one time?
It seems .45 is pretty expensive and i'm really hesitant about buying online...Does anyone know any places that have decent ammunition prices?
Thanks,
Connor

Hard to beat the price of Winchester white box ammo at Walmart

When they have them at WM, I buy the Remington UMC JHP 230gr at ~$40 / 100 rounds. Makes it easy to have the home defense mags sub for range ammo. For carry, Rem Golden Sabre.

Some WM stores charge more. Depends on how many WM stores there are in close proximity.

It cost me on average $15 a box. I buy online. If you don't you either have some very good local connections. ...and I assume you don't by your post....or you buy online

Re: OP. When I can find it, Tula steel cased .45 ACP hardball sells for about $15/box. It works perfectly in my RIA 1911. On target POI is POA out to 25 yds., the same as with any domestic production ball ammo. Advantage is that it is less expensive, always a plus in my book. I have mostly found it at Walmart. It is very good ammo.

If you want to start hand loading you can produce .45ACP ammo that is very affordable. The initial cost of a start up hand loading operation can be recouped in less than a year if you do any amount of significant shooting. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

That's right, it is hard to beat Walmart's price, I looked yesterday....it was free! They didn't have any. Any of the popular handgun cartridges are pretty much non-existent at WallyWorld....let's not even mention .22's.

I reload so I don't buy a whole lot of Factory ammo, but when I do (.22 Rimfire and Shot Shells) I have noticed the best pricing is at Dick's when they have a sale. Their other ammo is often on sale and is decently prices as well - especially their bulk packed boxes.

i have no trouble beating Walmarts price on WWB .45, since they sell it for $44/something, and my local Mills Fleet Farm has it every day for $39.99/100. (It's a Minnesota thing) I've bought quite a bit from Palmetto State Armory, and they have some now at $16.49/50. The aluminum cased Federal at Walmart has worked fine for me, but only 1 of 2 ranges I go to allows it.

Why so hesitant about buying online? I've never had a bad experience with it. Pay with a credit card, and you're protected by the card issuer.

Try slickguns.com.

Really, the only way to get cheap ammo is reloading. Used to be that 9mm and 38 Special were very cheap for certain loads but those days are gone. They are still the cheapest now.

Just so you know.............

A box of .45 acp re-loads cost me about $6 Bucks to make. Obviously you need to buy components right, but you save so much it is well worth the effort. A savings of at least $15 bucks a box adds up to $1,500.00 from buying 100 boxes which is enough to get a Re-loading Outfit.

I don't know how much or how often you shoot, but if you shoot 100 rounds a week you would pay off your equipment (break even) within one year! After that everything else is gravy!

Buying online is the only way to go with all the free shipping deals going on now for the holidays. Second best option is Walmart, if you can find what you are looking for in stock.

gunbot.net

ammoseek.com

They'll compare prices across the nation. Get over your aversion to buying online if you want the lowest cost.
