FINGER AMPUTATION--UPDATE

Wow, didn't know....

Didn't know you got an infection and I don't blame you for being relieved as there are some really nasty germs around now. Hope the rest of the trip to recovery is smooth.

That's why I tell my clients to not worry about what if's and what might happen. Because there is a good chance that it won't and then you done gone and done all that worrying for nothing.:) Witness the big thread we just had about what to do with the missing parts-great stuff now all down the drain!!:D
Seriously though-God does indeed take care of bid'ness-all we got to do is ask!;)

Very good news Mr. Layton! Having all the fingers we were born with is always a plus, unless driving through Dallas, then you apparently only need one. Glad to hear you are keeping yours, never lose the faith.

GOOD NEWS, CONGRATS

Fortunately the body/mind/spirit often comes up with a work around for such things, I know I did. Glad you didn't have to find out. +1 on not worrying until you have to, there will always be time for that when you cross that bridge.

Don't know what your injury was but my wife's cousin went through something very similar. He stabbed his finger with a thorn on a bush right at the first joint. He thought nothing of it at the time but it quickly got bad enough to visit his doctor. Ended up being a severe infection of the bone/joint. The docs were talking about amputation and he was dead set against that. They ended up putting a port in his arm and he had to administer IV antibiotics over quite a period of time. They would have sent a nurse to his home to do it but he was very proficient and able to do it himself. Now the infection is gone with no amputation needed but his finger joint is a little misshapen. I guess sometimes it pays to try before doing something radical.

I stuck a stub of a branch into my shin. Two years later I collapsed at work and spent 3 days in the hospital with cellulitis. Seems the bacteria had gone "underground"==temp was 103, blood pressure sky high and I had twice the normal white blood count. Five months later and we're still treating it and it just drained some fluid yesterday. Everything came on over about 5 hours.

Moral: Don't ignore what your body tells you!
