Great Mdl29& great photos&follow up. At ine time there was a product called "Gun Brite" IIRC that looked like a "scrub pad" of sorts that worked great on freckling/minor surface rust but haven't been able to find it lateley....anyoneknow if its still available? Might take care of some of the issues Eds Red left.
You aren't thinking of the "Big 45" pad are you? I have used them for years, mainly on rifle barrels to safely remove rust. Looks like a shiny coiled-up scrubbing pad made of a metal component that is softer than gun metal.
I might add, Mr. Potterfield makes many projects look easier to do than they actually are. Of course if we all had the equipment/facilities Larry has it would actually be easier.
Skip the brass & vise grips, a couple triangles of business card and double stick tape work great as "forms", the double stick tape peels right off once the epoxy is set.
