Fire on the mountain, lightning in the air . . .

I was standing on the back porch watching an afternoon thunderstorm brewing up and was hoping for a little rain. As the storm developed I could tell it was going to pass north of us, but it was putting on a pretty good lightning show.

Since it didn't appear we were going to get any rain, just some gusty wind, I decided to spin up my drone for some practice runs in the rough air. I lucked into this lightning shot while I was making a pass over the Faulkner Homestead.

Yes, amazing shot. I've tried many times unsuccessfully to capture a lightning shot. I love lightning storms.

Ha, you loose some of the feel for the terrain with altitude but this shot is actually from obove an Ozark plateau. From ground level the view is more aggressive looking.

Okay, here's one more photo. After this one the rain started to move our direction and I brought the drone in for a landing. Bottom fell out of the sky about the time I gather up the drone and made it to the garage.

Have to show Mrs Rule these pics. Been wanting a drone but she is not much in favor (well I don't really want to spend the money for the one I want)

We live in the lightening capital of the USA, my luck I would fly into a bolt and toast the drone.

Drones would be much safer than a kite and key on a string in that situation!
