This may just apply to me and my old computer setup, but I thought I would post it anyway.

Firefox has served me well for many years...until today. I always check the release notes before I update, and the FF106 notes raised no flares for me. as a result, I downloaded the update last night, and it was applied when I started FF this morning.

Oh dear. The freezes started pretty soon after I got going. Disabling my anti-virus, getting FF to repopulate the "places.sqlite" file, deleting all the extensions, none of these tricks worked. To be fair, the only one I did not try was turning off the hardware acceleration. Probably should have tried that, but what's the point of a computer program that gives up when hardware acceleration is applied. Fail.

Just for the record I'm using a HP Pavilion laptop with Win7, Avast anti-virus. Reverting to FF105.0.3 has worked perfectly.

OK, just for completeness, I reloaded FF 106.0.1 and turned off the "Use Hardware Acceleration When Available" setting. So far, so good after 15 minutes.

I'm sorry, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm basically computer illiterate. They drive me crazy!! I'm always having computer problems! Sometimes it's all I can do to keep from smashing the darn thing with a hammer.

Fortunately for me, we have a computer expert in the family, so when things look totally impossible for me to fix, I just call the expert...my six-year old granddaughter.:D

At one time FF was my primary browser, and I still have it loaded as a backup. But I stopped using it. I switched to Opera as my primary over five years ago, no reason to change.

Every time I try to unplug my computer after the off button doesn't work, because of weird things going on, I hear a voice: "What are you doing, Jeff?" When I grab the plug I get a quick jolt of 127 Volts into my fingers. Again: "What are you doing, Jeff? I don't think you want to unplug me, do you?" It's really creepy. Sometimes it sings "Daisy Belle" to me...

I carry a Taser with a USB adapter. My computers know who's boss.

You lost me after "This may just apply to me . . . ."
