It is my understanding that Harvey K-Chuk .224 conversions used pre-Model/Model 17s as the basis for the conversion. Does anyone know the specifics of how they handled going from the frame mounted rim-fire firing pin set up to fire the center-fire cartridge?

I'm converting a couple of these, (Harvey K-Chuk), myself but started with a Md 15 frame, you can pick up cylinders and barrels at the on line auctions. I would like to know if anyone has converted a 17/48 to the double firing pins like the 53 uses. Would make a very versitale pet.

About your first question, I've converted a Ruger single six by remaking the firing pin with the protuding portion off set all the way to one side, likewise the firing pin cup has a slot down one side instead of the hole centered up. It's held in the proper orientation by the retaining pin.
