I picked this up locally on GB, unfired, with all of the paper products. I am very happy with the purchase. I just ordered the Wolff spring kit as I did that to my 686 along with stoning parts and the DA is awesome now. This feels like a 12#+ pull as it sits. I now have to find the IWB of my dreams. I just bought a Nemesis pocket holster for it as I didnt want to wait 3 months for the Mika though I will likely order that too.

I like it. I bought a slightly used one on GB and the trigger is fine and a very accurate snubby, Congrats!

Lovely little gun, and with the Uncle Mike's boot grips. Tip: if you ever have work done on it, don't send it in with those grips, which are out-of-print and desirable to some folks. They have "legs" and will "walk away." This has happened to me, BTW.

Have you shot it yet? Pretty soon, people will post in, wondering if it is one of those marked "for +P+" ammunition, as if that matters. These .38 cal 640s (I''ve got one, too) are strong little chickenpluckers.

No, it's not marked for the +P+, I only became familiar with that here when researching this purchase. From what I understand the Plus P is not an issue in moderation with these early steel guns? Chances are after getting familiar with the pressures, I would only use that when in "carry mode". I haven't shot it yet, hopefully tomorrow.

Congratulations! I bought one of the first 640 no dash that arrive in my town(replaced the DS I was carrying---long story) added Pachmayers and never looked back. I found it to have a fine trigger and very accurate with 158 gr bullets. I've had it ever since--never a problem. An excellent choice for a snub nose. Enjoy in good health!

Obviously this is new and consequently a stiff trigger, but no one felt the need for a spring kit on theirs? Doing that transformed my 686 into dead accurate DA shooter.

Nice purchase. The 640ND is a great snub, and has been one of my "grail" guns for several years. One day!

For holsters, I've been carrying my 642 in a Side Guard Holsters Quick Clip IWB holster for several years and it continues to serve me well. Inexpensive, well-made, but delivery times are on the long side, 12 weeks the last I heard.

I prefer to keep the springs stock to maintain maximum reliability. I'm on my second 642-1 and neither it nor the first one had any action work done. A mix of dry fire and live fire practice was all I needed.

I do have a 642ND that had a trigger job done, but kept the stock springs. The difference between it and my stock 642-1 is very noticeable. Both guns have been totally reliable to date. If this is a carry gun but you'd like to improve the trigger, I would recommend spending the money on a good trigger job that keeps the stock springs for a smoother pull with maximum reliability. I'm considering doing that with my 642-1. I would say it's a "nice to have" option but not necessary.

My trigger is initially heavy, then breaks like a fine single action. Slow fire is as accurate as thumb cocking a DA.
Or maybe after all these years its self polished
