Ok... maybe this is getting old to many of you but I'm really impressed with my new Shield ( 9mm) - I had my SIG out there to compare and I was hitting on par with the Shield.. I only was practicing 7 yards and less so at a greater distance the SIG (4in barrel) may have shown brighter...

I put about 170 round through of Federal 115 fmj, some 91 gr solid copper, funky German stuff, but 60% was IMI's Ex-Star HP... and it all ran very well.. I had one FTE with the IMI but that may have been my error.. I'm excited to see the IMI ran as well as it did because Widener's has their Ex-Star at a close out of 1000 rds for $219. That is FMJ prices for an HP. I'll write up a separate thread on this ammo.

This experience really gave me confidence in the Shield as my EDC. Accurate, controllable, reliable, durable, comfortable, and in conclusion, I think they are part "Labrador Retriever" because they will eat anything!

You did a great job on this Smith and Wesson! Thank you!

I now spend most of my time in the revolver sub forum as I've fallen in love with wheel guns the last two years, but every time I shoot my "EDC" Shield 40 at the range, it's a pure joy. I actually like shooting it better than my 1911. I can shoot it just as accurately, too.

Towards the end of my practice at the range, I started using more of an instinctual point and shoot only using the sights for a general orientation.. I was amazed how well that worked.. not Pinpoint accuracy, but faster recovery and close to the same size of a group as taking the time to "breathe and sight in carefully"

It really is a fine handgun... all around it's does what it was designed to do very well. That makes it all the more fun to shoot!

I don't seem to get tired of folks talking about their good Shield experiences here. It's a sort of surprising gun and deserves talking about regularly. I've loved mine for going on two years now; it's in my pocket as I write this, a comforting weight against my leg. It's no wonder they're selling like hotcakes.

Don't know if people are tired of, "love the shield", threads or not. I'm not. I have been reading lately all I can find, good or bad, pro or con.

I had about become convinced that this might well be a gun I'd like to have.

A friend of mine was good enough to loan his .40 to me today for a little test drive at the range. So, my own first date with a shield was this afternoon.

I found that I immediately liked the little gun. I fired about 120 rounds through it without a hitch. A couple magazine full of 165 gr gold dot included.

I think after Christmas I'll be bringing one home.

thinking I may upgrade to one from my Bodyguard 380!

This is why I got mine... I've watched some ballistic tests that compare .380 with the 9mm and there is a marked difference.. If I'm going to carry, I'm want a bit more umpf.. than the .380... I still have it... and it will have a place... I just feel better with the 9mm...
