First "new" gun for a while - 2" M&P from 1948

I won the below item in an auction this past weekend for $400. I have been wanting one for quite a while. I believe it is from 1948.

I have recorded quite a few 2" SB M&Ps in that serial range. Ship dates range from late summer (September) to Autumn (November) 1948.

Everybody should get a chance to own a two inch M&P. Mine's in the C127000 range, and is a ton of fun to shoot. Everyone is amazed at how accurate these things are - with such a short sight radius.

It’s a little sweaty but appears to be original and correct. $400 is a pretty good price today for any M&P snubby in reasonably good condition. And I also have quite a few listed from that time period. Yours has the so-called “fish hook” high-speed hammer and the 4-line address frame stamp, both of which began around the time yours was made. Some collectors might call it an early “pre-Model 10.”

I've picked up a couple of those, too. Both LEO (agency) issued: Detroit PD in nickel and Austin, TX PD in blue. They are great! You got a good buy!
