First revolver actually. Well, have two black power pistols from long ago. I started shooting in the late 50's and in the early '60's used my lawn mowing money to begin my collection of Mausers and Enfields at 10 bucks out a barrel at a Kresge store. Still have and shoot them. 30 years Army, MACV IV Corps Vietnam, then Desert Storm. Always did enjoy shooting, and about 15 years ago, resumed that hobby with IDPA and other recreational shooting. I have always liked especially vintage military long arms, from Sharps Buffalo rifles to modern, but especially WWll rifles. I had not gotten "into" revolvers, as I tend to be "all in" whenever I begin a new hobby or interest, and just could't go that route too. In order to shoot my firearms, I reload, now at 14 different calibers.
But the other day, I wandered around a Cabela's, and happened upon a really nice revolver, one that reminded me of what the police and HP wore when they stopped me on the highway. Big, intimidating firearms. So bought my first modern revolver, ($725) a 1973 pristine 28-2. It has no wear marks, and no marring of the screws, no chipping or wear on the grips, so I suspect someone bought it back then, shot it a few times, and put it away, properly stored.
Glad to have this forum, as I learn about my S&W and how to properly handle and shoot it. I have coming what I need to make ammo for this fine firearm, and will try it for fun in IDPA.
All the best.... SF VET. UpState SC
I will try to post a pic after lunch...
