This should be my 38/44. A transitional model produced in 1946. The photo does not do it justice. It is a matte blue, long action, five screw with the single line Made in USA stamp.

Thats a beauty; nice picture, too.

I wish my 38/44HD of similar vintage was in as good shape as yours is

Yup, that would a transitional model.

But has been reamed for 357 Magnum ammo?

Excellent picture and revolver. What kind of camera did you use for this picture? Thanks.

Pretty darn nice start. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you all for the kind words. The camera is just a little Canon Powershot A40 belonging to my wife.
The photo seems to show a couple of scratches but in reality there are no marks that should not be there. I'll have to work on my technique before posting more pictures.
No, the cylinders have not been reamed to .357 length. When I read that question my first thought was "ARGH!" Then I scurried back to my bench to verify. Whew. As far as I can tell the sideplate has never been removed, much less any work done. I'm a shooter more than a collector but I still prefer to leave old warriors like this one in original condition.

greenlizard,

Congratulations on finding this one, and welcome to the Forum.

There will be lots of jealous members wishing they were lucky enouhg to find such a rare gun in what appears to be new condition.

You certainly found a keeper that has substantial value.

Welcome to the Forum !

Beautiful transitional HD and nice photo.

I would suggest you back out a few inches so you do not chop off part of the gun. I personally prefer to center the gun in the photo but some of the very best photos around here are Kobold_27's. He utilizes interesting angles and lighting with great results. You can always crop to size later with some imaging program. I always shoot a few up close and a few a greater distance away and choose the best one.

Keep posting your images ! Especially those of your 38/44s !

Take a look at the images posted by Doc44. He is a master at photography. His revolvers are not bad either !
