Hello from Nebraska. My first post. I have been a S&W fan for over 40 years, own several now and have owned several more over those 40 years that I regret not now owning. A Md 29 first year comes to mind as having made a very good, quick profit on. Now the profit doesn't seem so much!

One of my current guns is a Md 342 ( Ti, hammerless .38, J frame) that I bought as an off duty gun when I was working. Absolutely love it. Still use it as one to qualify with for my annual LEOSA certification.

Can anyone give me a quick run down on years produced, why it isn't still made and a bit of history on it?

Thanks!

Now, on the Model 342Ti - according to my Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 3rd Edition (if I am reading it correctly) on Page 238 it says it was released December 1, 1998. In 2001 a internal lock added...blah blah blah

Welcome. Yunno the S&W website, they are happy to give you production dates, sorry don't have the link at hand.
