So took my new .45c too the range. I love the feel of the gun its accurate and had no failures. The gun is currently stock, but I have a apex trigger ordered. I knew I didn't like the trigger but it was worse than I expected based on dry firing. I get the long pull and heavy break. I am sure that makes someone more comfortable carrying it... I guess. The grit I don't get though. Don't get me wrong I really like the gun but I am really looking forward to getting my apex parts in.

I love my "fat shield"!

The grit comes from the factory striker block. The Apex USB is rounded, thus no grit.

All four of my M&P pistols have the Apex kits installed. The full kits.

Well worth it.

All my M&P's also "wear" Trijicon night sights, with the exception of my regular Shields - they "wear" Ameriglo sights.

In fact, I'm carrying my 45c today (aka "fat shield") - in a DeSantis Cozy Partner under an untucked polo shirt.

Enjoy!

You are gonna have lots of fun with that pistol. I love mine but do to some wanted weight loss its a bit big to carry for me now iwb. Mine has a bit over 5500 rounds spread out over 4 years and the trigger is amazing now. I kinda wanted to put the apex in it before but never got around to it and now I kinda don't need to. I have a spare recoil spring/guide rod but wont replace it until the original starts to give me problems.

my MP .45 FS, must be defective, my trigger is not worse than a Glock trigger pull.

"Fat Shield???"

Perish the thought.

Nothing against you Shield Guys but shields aren't anything like the M&P line.

They may say "M&P" on the side but trust me, the only thing the Shield shares with the M&P is a stencil.

Just curious, why do you say that?

The gritty part is only felt in the take up or slack. So, it's not really part of the actual trigger pull.

Which Apex kit did you order?

Um, no.

The only three characteristics of the Shield that are unique are the size, safety and name. Otherwise the Shield is identical to the other M&Ps.

How many rounds did you happen to fire?

I put about 100 - 150 through it, pretty much emptied the rounds I had in my range bucket.
I have since put the apex trigger in it. I like it much better. I need to get it to the range to see how much.

.

I ordered just the aluminum trigger. I did a bit of polishing with some metal polish and a rag on the trigger bar. It is still a bit gritty but the pull is less spongy and take up much shorter. Not sure if I feel the need to replace or polish the striker block or not. Might just see if it smoothes out.
I am pretty happy with the apex trigger.
