First SAA worth the wait

Made in 1981.

I believe mine falls between 81-82 based on the serial in the picture above. I don't think I would sell mine even at the going rate. I also have all the papers and plastic bag with the box.

Makes me wonder what my 5.5inch 3rd Gen .357 would go for these days. Paid a bit over $1200 for it a few years ago.

I'd been looking for a 44 or 45 in 4.75" barrel for a good while. I hadn't had any since early 1970s. Anyway about a year ago I got a killer deal on a 2nd Gen 5.5" 45. Bad new it's a WVa statehood with a couple rust spots in blue and owner sold grips to try to save a little of his investment. Has Colts cheapest Black/ logo grips. I don't care since bought it to shoot. I was NIB and has only been shot to see if accurate enough to mess with. Presently fitting faux ivory grips to it.

WHOA, there Nellie! Your first Colt? Be very careful now, those things can multiply like rabbits if you don't keep an eye on them. After I bought my first, I suddenly had 3. And soon it can become an obsession (ask me how I know this.)
Seriously though, Congrats. The price seems just a little high, but .44 special is not a common caliber in 3rd gen SAAs, thus the competitive bidding. And like the Smiths, you don't pay too much, you just pay too early.
