FIRST TIME OUT M&P-22

Sounds like the ammo is too weak to properly operate the gun, not sending the slide back far enough to pick up the next round. I doubt the mag has anything to do with it. Once the gun gets broken in it may work with the cheap ammo, maybe not. If not, you will just have to accept the occasional malfunction or shoot the cheap ammo in your other guns.

Interesting thought and there has been part of a thread where someone reasoned that the ammo needed 1260 fps to properly operate the gun. He used Winchester 333 where are rated at 1280 FPS, but would be interested to see what it does with CCI Stinger or mini-mags.

i used cci mini mags and still had the problem just not as often as with the winchester and the federals

I'd get through a full 550rd box of Federal before I even considered sending it in. It seems like most semi auto 22s need a period of break in.

If they suspect a potential magazine issue I would also wait until I bought a couple of spare mags to try with it.

Shipping a handgun is expensive because you have to overnight it. When I looked into doing it with another gun it was going to cost about $70. I ended up working out the problem on my own.

I think your advice on the break in period and the mag issue is what I am going to do, then we will see how that turns out. mags are hard to find right now.

While the bulk pack 22s may be rated for 1280fs,or whatever, I have found they often suffer from poor quality control and are quite inconsistent. Some are noticably weaker than others. Usually, once it is broken in a gun should run with the Mini Mags if nothing else. If it wouldn't, I'd send it back.

Pls. define FTF. It can mean fail to feed or fail to fire. I'm considering buying one and need to understand what you are experiencing.

Thanks!

fail to feed, so i ended up dry-firing it about 30 times out of 350, it seemed to happen on the 4th and or 8th round.
