Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but started following after getting my 15-22 last week at a gun show. I was waiting all week long to finally get out and shoot it.

I loaded up my 2 mags, zero'd the scope, hit all the targets in decent groups. It was easy to shoot and accurate.

However, after only 200+ rounds I have to say I just got bored. I was really excited after hearing all the responses from the forum about how much fun it is to shoot this awesome looking gun. It just didn't do much for me.

If anyone lives around the Dallas, Texas area and would like to take this baby off my hands I think I am really considering it.

Again, its only 1 week old and has only been shot once. I see that it has the blue spring and seems as if the ejector is fine also. It also has the flash suppressor already on it. I've got 2 mags, a 3-9x centerpoint scope, and 1 unused box of 525 Windchester Western?, and half a box of the Federal Walmart brand. Heck, I even bought a damn boresnake before even shooting it, so thats also unused.

I can see why it could be fun for many folks, I just think I'm a handgun gun.

I got it for $460 after tax. Extra mag was $20, and scope was $60. All the other extras are whatever. If someone's interested I hope I get a decent offer. I don't think I'll go through the trouble of shipping it out though. I'd rather just trade it at a gun shop if no one's interested. Thanks all!

Welcome aboard.

What part of shooting it wasn't fun for you? What expectations didn't it meet? I guess if you are a fan of wood stocks and bolt actions, then yes a black rifle probably won't deliver the experience you are used to.

Not one person that's shot my 15-22 has come back and said anything other than "Wow that's a fun gun to shoot".

I wish you luck on your sale, a better place to post it for sale would be the for sale sections of these forums.

I'm actually very new to firearms. It has nothing to do with the M&P 15-22. If I had to buy another .22 cal I would still get the 15-22. I've just learned I don't prefer shooting a .22 cal.

Oops, I'm a noob I'll post in the for sale section.

Thanks Brett, really enjoyed watching your videos

Hi and welcome to the forum from Yonkers New York.If that gun isn't for you you can list it in the classified section or consign it to a FFL.Then you can use those funds and get something more acceptable.....God Bless....Mike

Completely understandable! I like shooting all sorts of different guns myself, I just don't like shooting one's that are expensive to feed, often! :)

You shouldn't have any issues moving your 15-22 in the Classified section or as was mentioned through a dealer on consignment or perhaps even as a trade in on something else.

Agreed! She's cheap to feed. But good luck unloading her, I'm sure someone will buy her up. Probably would be easiest to take her to your local gun dealer.

I had been contemplating getting an AR-15 for a long time...cost of rifle and ammo were the main contenders. Then when I came across the M&P 15-22, I told myself I was getting one. So I did and gave my 10/22 to my son. We go every weekend to hit the targets! We have an awesome time. I got my Sightmark reflex sight dialed in.

I think the reason I enjoy my 15-22 so much is the cost of ammo. True Shooting my .308 or .223 is much more satisfying when shooting fruit or other destructible objects, but at $1 and $.50 a round the fun can only last so long. The $.04 cost per round of 22 LR is much easier to swallow and the fun lasts a lot longer.

I took my 15-22 to a church campout this weekend and everyone enjoyed it very much. Everyone who shot a magazine or two through it handed it back with a big grin and comments of "that's just cool, I'm gonna have to get me one." People were putting down their ARs to shoot it. We were picking off clay pigeons set up across the creek bed about 40 yards with the red dot on it with zero effort. We were chasing soda cans and pinecones with it all weekend.

I think I'll give it another try

I went out by myself that late Saturday afternoon bc i couldn't wait to set things up with friends. At my range we can't rapid fire and all we have are paper targets. In Texas its all private property and we cant just find a field to go shoot cans and what not. I'm pretty sure that has a lot to do with the fun factor I had.

I'll have to set things up next weekend with some friends and see how it goes. Firing those cheap .22s mag after mag definitely leave no guilt at all.

Gonna have to give that skeet shootin' a go sometime as well. thanks all

It's certainly frustrating not being able to find a place to shoot. Growing up as a kid I shot my 22's in my backyard, no one cared I did it safely, I had a backstop. Still do... But now when I go out and do it in my own back yard, I get dirty looks from some punk that owns the property behind my house (which is a strip mine, it's not homeowners). And finding a "good" Sportsmans Club? Hah! Our nearest Sportsmans doesn't even allow concealed carry, WHAT? If I can't carry my weapon on a shooting range concealed, why bother joining the club?

The outdoor range I was at on Thursday was a blast, it's way up in the mountains and it's a Rod & Gun not a Sportsmans club, and fortunately for me, my friend can take me along as a guest, which is a good thing, because the waiting list to join is 6+ years.

They have no rules about rapid fire, just no full auto, and any caliber is permitted, the rules are simple, clean up after yourself.

But that place is more than an hour away!

It's funny...I started out with bigger caliber rifles and pistols...and got bored...lol...and find myself gravitating to (back) .22lr...as they are just fun, no kick to them and cheap ammo!

[lang=tl]First time shooting my 15-22 today with my wife and both of us had really good time. We live in California so you guys all know how sucky the gun law here. Even the indoor range doesn't allow us to rapid fire but it's all good ;)

I know quite a few people will be interested with your 15-22.[/lang]

First, welcome to the forum. Second welcome to Smith & Wesson's. Third, keep the gun. You will find a place to shoot it and have fun.

I wish you were here in Virginia. I have a place where I shoot right off the deck like many other folks on this forum all over the US.

Your welcome to come here and bust it out. I mean that.

Just relax, enjoy the rifle and find the time to locate a outdoor place to shoot.

Here's my son enjoying a Enfield 22 right off the deck.

that's why you're not having fun. i agree, shooting at paper from a bench would be boring with a 15-22. it's not a tack driver. until you experience the excitement of mag dumps as fast as you can pull the trigger at spinner targets or at balloons wavering in the wind (in front of a backstop, not floating up in the air), you won't know how much fun this little rifle can be.
