Hello All!

I was inherited this beautiful revolver. It's a S&W .32 Long Mod 30. The inside of the gun is stamped with "mod 30". The color is blued. Im not sure if i want to keep or it not. Whats something like this worth with the original box and wrapping paper but no paperwork? It's in excellent condition.

Thanks in advance!

What a nice little gun! That appears to be ANIB (as new in box), and probably unfired. These are desirable and in that condition it might bring in the $500 to $700. Don't take to a dealer to sell, he will only offer you about 60% or less for it. There is a For Sale place here on the forum, you can list it there without having to pay any fee's.

My advice is to keep it. These are perfect trail guns. The Model 30 will stand up to heavier than factory loads. I load the .312" diameter Hornady XTP with 3 grains of Bullseye for about 900 fps. Pressure testing in solid barrel with strain gage via Oehler M43PBL assembled in R-P cases with WSP at 1.175"OAL gave 16,800 psi. OK to substitute 87-90 grain cast. With 115-grain #311008 load 2.5 grains of Bullseye for 830 fps.

Very satisfactory loada.

I'd keep it. It's a beautiful piece!

If not now, then perhaps in a few years, you might appreciate the almost-zero-recoil of that that gun.
32 S&W Long is inherently very accurate.
With Wad Cutters a 32 S&W Long is a good self-defense choice for people who are recoil sensitive.
It would also be a great gun to use when introducing nee shooters to the sport.

Disclosure: I've never shot 32 S&W Long, but I hand load and shoot a lot of 32 H&R Mag.

I have a pre model 30 hand ejector that actually is my trail gun. My only complaint: I can't find shot shells for it. I don't reload. I cant find 32 long shotshells anywhere on line. The only shop I know that does, will not do less than 100 at $1.25.
I dont really need a $125.00 worth of shot shells. Maybe, you might know a source ???

The .32 Long case is a bit small to be effective with shot. Not worth the effort.
And yet .22 LR shotshells are commonly found?... ...Ben
