We used to put a dime on the back strap of the unloaded pistol and pull the trigger nice and smooth so that dime would stay right where we left it when the hammer fell. That wasn't easy but it can be done with lots of practice.
Another drill we did was the light stitch drill where you practice drawing the unloadded pistol on the light switch. First coming up on the plate around the switch til you are on it every time you draw then moving to the switch itself til you are on it every time, then moving to the screws until you are on them every time.
....and get one of those squeezy things to build up your hand muscles.
