First trip to the range $72.00

Local indoor range costs $200 to join for a year. Members pay $6 for an hour of range time, non-members pay $18. Best deal, buy a new gun from them, and the price includes a free years membership to the range. Their gun prices are a little higher than other LGS, but when you factor in the range membership they are a great deal.

Can't help but notice from this that we've got some of the highest range fees in the country here in Minneapolis. At my range/LGS they make a big deal of the fact that they give you a free DAY at the range if you buy a new gun. If they gave you an annual membership, nothing could stop me from buying a new gun every year.

The membership fee is the once a year fee and every trip cost me $15.

They did have a silver membership fee for $350 which would not cost me anything per visit, I just can't afford it yet.

Only the second range I've ever been to but the facility was very nice.

Washington's Premiere Indoor Shooting Facility

Before I got to the URL I thought to myself "that sounds an awful lot like the pricing I remember seeing on WCA's site"...

I've been meaning to take their intro handgun class. Last I saw that includes a free bronze membership which makes the cost easier to swallow.

I'm not sure where you're at on the Eastside but I've been going to the range at Champion Arms down near Ikea and pretty happy with things. I've got the unrestricted punch card which I think works out to $8.50/visit and no sign up fee. They also have a Monday-Thursday card that gets it down to $6.50/visit. Wednesdays are free rentals though you have to buy their ammo. Champion Arms - Home

Champion is a bit of a haul for me with traffic from the north end of Kirkland but I've got some friends down in the Kent/Renton/SeaTac area that I've gone shooting there with. I'd like to find something reasonably priced up here but haven't done a lot of looking yet.

Range fees

Just paid my $75 annual fee at my local indoor-only range. Shoot anytime, day or evening. Entry to the clubhouse is with a cardkey system. No additional fees of any kind. Targets are three for a quarter at the club. No rental opportunities, but now it sounds like a bargain!!

I'm out in North Bend and also thinking about taking some of the classes and eventually going out for the Tuesday night festivities. Ive also been looking at the outdoor range in Issaquah but I'm not sure the hours work for me, especially in the winter.

The slide stop is not really a slide release on the Shield. Its best to sling shot the slide (pull it all the way back and let go). If you use the stop as a release it normally works fine but holding the slide and releasing the stop then letting go is not the way to load a round. Learn to sling shot. It works the best.
Congrats on a great weapon.

My club is similar, with open shooting on the various ranges, and a pass-card system.

They did just increase the membership fee and the guest fees, but it's still the best deal in the area if you want to do a lot of shooting, with indoor and outdoor gun ranges, indoor and outdoor archery ranges, shotgun ranges, and auto racing. And after the first year you have the opportunity for discounts on the membership fee by putting in volunteer hours. If you're anywhere near Pontiac, Michigan, check out the Oakland County Sportsman's Club.

For awhile it was not accepting new members, but that's changed now.:)

P.S. It shows up pretty well on Google Maps/Earth., on Waterford Rd in Clarkston, MI. ;)

I go to the WCA location in south Everett, it's off the second exit north of the 405-5 merge. If you went there late in the day the traffic would be brutal but the only time I put up with that is the Tuesday night action pistol match, the rest of the time I go up in the mornings (I'm retired). The pricing and memberships at all 3 of the WCA locations are similar but are only valid at the range you join. (one membership isn't good for all 3).

Bec

Welcome.

I have owned my Shield 9 for 2 years this April and after approx 2,000 rounds I have had zero jams.

Can't say the same for my Kahr CM9 or Beretta Nano.

I am hesitant to buy another conceal weapon in fear it will not measure up to my flawless Shield.

Happy shooting and thanks again for your post. It is always nice to read an uplifting report.

You might want to look into the Snoqualmie Valley Rifle Club for an outdoor range in the area. Welcome to SVRC I've been meaning to check them out and likely join for a few years now and will hopefully have time to in a couple months.

Don't ride the Slide. Power Stroke it and let it slam into battery.

The OP's price seems about average from my experiences at ranges.
They're definitely not hurting for money.

OP, what other guns have you shot besides the Shield?

I have not shot to many, have been out with friends and shot 9 and 45 Glocs not sure which models. Just getting into guns but am loving every min.

So I guess my $250/year isn't too bad at the local indoor pistol/ rifle range membership. $0 for me, $5 for guest with 5% off everything in the store except guns.

I pay $15 per year at our outdoor range. Visits are unlimited and no charge. 9 times out of 10 the range is empty when I go. I can practice concealed carry drawing, drawing from cover and all the defensive shooting positions like on my back or behind cover. Sometimes I set up 2 pistol targets and different distances and practice shooting both.

We have 100yd and 200yd rifle target frames and moveable pistol target frames, and covered benches and lights for night shooting.

Busy nights are sporting clay and skeet and horse shoes in the summer, and monthly meetings in the clubhouse.

Country living has its benefits.

Looks like most folks belong to a "range" and not a "club". For my club it's $90/year, indoor pistol range, outdoor pistol/rifle/shotgun range, 2 trap, 1 skeet, sporting clays, archery course, stocked trout pond. You can hunt on the property.

What is the difference between a club and a range? Many of us go to a range. I happen to have a membership, other pay for each visit. A club generally imply, there is a membership. Range's are both. Most of us would join a $90 a year club with all sorts amenities if we had it as an option. I occasionally go to an outdoor range (100yds) which is a public/state range. $3 per hour. Problem is it's a 50 min drive. My range is 12 minutes away.

WCA

I was at WCA Bellevue yesterday with a couple of friends. I live closer to the new WCA North. I can't tell you how happy I was to see Sam's public range close up and re-open as WCA North, a members range. The last few times l was at Sam's they were gang-bangers conventions. I am a member of Norpoint in Arlington but that's quite a drive up I-5 or 9, but it's a nice facility.

I think I'll look into a higher level membership at WCA North. Last time I was there they were still finalizing membership levels. And yes, its a shame that WCA doesn't honor membership across facilities.
