First, I wanted to thank the members of this forum who informed me about the history of k frame .357's.

Next, I wanted to inform the knowledgeable people of this forum of my purchase...my first revolver is now at my ffl and awaiting my filing paperwork to add it to my permit.

It is.....a s&w 13-4 custom shop quad ported !!!
It is a DAO with a bobbed hammer in blue.

I overpaid...I had to have it..
It is ANIB..looks to have been fired only to target test with minimal drag lines on cylinder..
The info requested is if any of the members can share knowledge of the gun, the numbers produced, foibles, etc....
The suggestions asked for are...SHOOT IT or NOT?

Can you date the gun or tell me the run history from where the ports are or from the serial number?
The serial is HPC000X.

thanks for all your help....
Nils
(PS my 13-4 is single digit serial and my lucky handgun #7)

Oh, and I know, PICTURES ARE REQUIRED...soon, It is still at the FFL.

Welcome to the forum!!

In my opinion, unless a gun is extremely rare or old, they are made to be fired. Shoot it and enjoy it. Life is too short to worry about that kind of stuff. Besides, I doubt that a bobbed hammer gun that is ported, will ever have collector status, so fire away! Just my .02

Been owning gun for more than 60 years. My dad used to get mad at me cuz I always sed, if I won't shoot a gun, it ain't worth owning. When he passed, there were several that had never been fired. I took care of that.

Shoot it, enjoy it. Good luck

nils,
Congrats on acquiring a neat gun, where are the ports - on the barrel or barrel rib? This would tell you if it's from the first run or second.

Here's a pic to (hopefully) jump start your picture posting efforts....

thanks for the warm fuzzies!
SmithNut....I'll check today where the ports are but I think they are barrel ports.

nils

edit: they are definately on the barrel not the rib.
