Great looking model 41, wish I could find one that nice and that early.
Do you have conformation that its a first year gun. if you have a letter i would live to see it as im interested in all things 41.

A little information for you on this one. The false muzzles were not available until 1958. and the 5 1/2 until 1963 so these are additions.

Note that the print has a 5 digit serial number (I cannot read the number) and the scallops behind the trigger guard. both these indicate to me a 1958 or later picture, cannot be from 1957, sorry.

Also I cannot see the mag well enough, are you saying that it is a 2 piece stacked back mag in the packet, if so I recommend you never open it!!!!

Oh yes, I knew everything except the Model 41, barrel weights and the 1 mag (that they came with at that time) were later additions. I do not have comfirmation that it is a 1st year gun, I guess I just "assumed" (which I know I should not do) based on the folowing- I've read that in 1958 they started the relief cut on the rear trigger at ser # 16000, so I figured the one of the first 838 guns would have been a first year. I'll do a little more research.
Looks like you have an amazing collection of 41's, I have a few other questions, do you mind if I PM you?
Thanks for the info, have a good day mate.

PM away..
you may get more questions from me...

the relief cut was added quite a few 1000s guns after yours. A letter or shipping date request will give you the year. It no doubt is 1957 or 1958.

Amazing gun! Is this some kind of family heirloom or something you happened upon?

Very nice and interesting package. Please comment on the leather pieces with buckle straps ----- wrist braces???

The packaged mag is not a small button 2pc w metal follower, bummer.
The box looks to be pure homebrew - Looks like someone took an aluminum drafting case (or the likes) and made a range box for the 41. The shearling pads, straps and lining look to be repurposed crafted for this gun.

No, it's not a family air loom, I found it at a shop and for some reason I just had to have it.

You were smart to grab it as the value is probably a lot higher then you may realize. I also have a 1958 year issue gun myself. I do not have a letter for it but the serial no.s which are 12304. I just love the sequence of it myself. Of all my guns its the only one I can remember full time serial no. wise.
