Fitting grips

How about some information on how to fit grips. All the in's and out's and what tools to use. I have not noticed that topic come up since I joined. But I am sure there will be some references at the bottom of the page.

I'll post a photo from an older thread of an uneven set. What say ye to these? Too far off or saveable?

And I want to see some pictures on this thread. Talk is cheap.

I've used the Dremel fitted with the flexible wand thing with an end-mill.

I've fitted some to a colt saa.With wood,I start with 100 grit till its a good basic fit and then work my way up to 300-400 to finish.

Those aren't an uneven set, they're two sides from two different sets showing a difference in shape: Tyler's Tru-Fit Grips

You can saw it off, but you can't saw it on.

In other words, be very slow, check the fit often. Nothing worse than taking too much off, speaking from experience.

Use the right screwdriver, and don't pry- tap the backed out screw, then tap from inside out.

Try not to alter serial numbered stocks until you've tried to find their real home frame.
