OK, the five incher pictures are hard to find scattered amongst all the postings here. So lets round 'em up and bring them home for our appreciation.

Seems like the 5" goes in an out of fashion (and production) more than most other lengths. (Right now I think it's out). In the 1980s the most common new model 29's I saw for sale were the 5" Classic with the full underlug.

Back before that, in the the partial underlug barrel the 5" (at least on N-frames) were even scarcer - maybe only special runs? If I'm not mistaken at least one of the old bulls of gun writing was the champion the 5" - was it Bill Jordan? John Taffin's books have only a few pictures.

It's funny because in the Colt SAA they two most popular lengths are both near 5". (The 4&5/8" and the 5.5")

Thanks in advance! Let's see em!!

The 5" barrel length is my favorite, and one that should have been standard all along.

Only fiver I've got. And whenever I shoot it, I wonder why that is.

Model 27 I never could see what a the fuss was about until I got one. The balance is great.

Neither your's nor Janitor's pictures are visible on my system. Little boxes with X in them. The others on the threads are. This internet thing-a-ma-jingy still needs work to get the bugs out...

Ok, I'll play too. The model 27 with a 5" barrel is just about the best combination of balance, sight picture and power in the .357 caliber. Gotta love em'. Bob

Here's the 5 incher:

And the rest of the stuff that comes with it.

Weird.

Could it be that I'm using 'Photobucket'? Funny thing (to me anyway) about your post, is that the photo of Iggy's beautiful 27 shows up in it for me.

Speaking of beautiful - hey MAG-NUM ... veddy nice.

5" Model 10. I don't have it in my possession yet, but it's gonna be my first 5" 10, I've got a 6" and a few 4's, this one looks like it might be about perfect.
