I agree whole heartedly on the fixed sight wheelguns. Not great for primary hunting weapon, but for banging around in the woods, CCW, pretty much everything else except long-range target shooting I'd pick a fixed sight revolver any day.
I just picked up a model 10-6 4" heavy barrel. It's my first model 10, but it will not be my last. it seems like sight acquisition is easier for me with fixed sights. Both the model 10 and my 22-4 certainly carry easier, both concealed and in hip-holsters. The front sight on a typical adjustable sight S&W revolver is pretty tall. So is the rear sight blade, for that matter. I have had a rear sight blade get damaged while crawling thru dense underbrush after black bear. Fortunately, if I had run across the bruin I was after in there, the distance between us would have been something like 6 feet, so a misaligned rear sight blade would have been less problematic, but I may have to go to one of the heavy duty rear sights like on the NightGuard series. I love my 45colt Mountain Gun, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a fixed sight 45colt S&W revolver with a 3-5" barrel.
