how offten do you remove your flash hinder/muzzle brake for cleaning and does removal effict the crush washer? Just noticed a lot of carbon build-up around the muzzle inside the flash hinder.

Flash Hider and Muzzle Brake are 2 different animals. As stated several times already, no need to ever remove the (A2 type) flash hider for cleaning purposes. Brakes, depending on the make/model, might require periodical cleaning. Always replace the crush washer with a new one if you remove whatever muzzle device is on the weapon.

Even if a muzzle brake did need cleaning (I've never run across one that did, but you never know) it still wouldn't need to be removed to be cleaned.

Wouldn't have to, but you could......and should. If you experience any carbon build-up (which will definitely have an adverse effect on accuracy). The best way to do a complete clean job on a muzzle brake is to remove it.

Might try shooting better ammo or cleaner burning powder (if you reload) and get away from the cheap dirty stuff.
