Lately I've heard a lot of talk about flash suppressors and other muzzle devices harming the accuracy of the rifle. I see the logic in the matter, but has anyone converted theirs and noticed a difference? Comparing two different rifles isn't really the way to prove it since each rifle is unique.

I like the looks of the flash suppressor and I have been thinking about getting the barrel threaded or buying the set screw mounted version, but I hear both of those options come with their own set of possible quirks.

I don't think I'm willing to risk looks for accuracy though, but then again I'm not sure it would much matter with a .22 or not. If someone could shed a little light on the situation that would be great and very much appreciated.

Just about all the 15-22's now have the flash suppressors now I think. Mine has it, and it's pretty accurate if you ask me. Can't ask for much better than a 1 and a half inch group at about 40 yards. Plus the AR platform isn't necessarily meant for accuracy. I guess I can't complain.

I did my own test with the stock flash hider and a Jerry Miculek compensator. Yes it seemed to help, remember the 15/22 has low recoil, but some. With the JM comp, it was even less. There is enough gas to aid in pushing the rifle forward but not with the atthority of a 5.56. It can also be said that the added weight of the comp also aids in muzzle raise, either way I like the feel with it on. My grouping was a tad tighter than without. Now on my AR15 5.56, both have the JM comp. and I swear by them and love them. Draw back, the people to the left and right of you will have their ears, eyes and air blown back like a cannon blast, sucks to be them.. Shooter receives none of it, just a smile. I also helped with recoil and bolt bounce with a Spike Tactical ST-H2 heavy buffer, now both shoot like the M&P 22LR... ain't life great!!

Note: During cleaning, there was plenty of build up in the compensator so I know the gas is hitting all three vanes. So get one, you will like it.

This is great info I was considering getting one my self now Ill order one asap,,,,

Tacticaledge, here is a picture of the Jerry Miculek on my M&P, Cheaper than Dirt has it for $29, they would not ship to CA. So I ordered through Brownell at $54, Brownell has me listed as LEO so they knocked it down to $34 (I like Brownell so much, they are LE friendly)..

Now if you really want one that is nice to the folks to your left and right, get a "Battlecomp 1.0" $129 (a tad pricey) but it also cuts flash and does a good job of recoil. My partner Officer got one and i shot it and compared it to the JM Comp. about the same in recoil. I'll stay with mine for now.
