Flat latch questions

I have a 3 inch flat latch pre 36 with original grips. The serial number is in the 57000 range. Gun is in very nice original condition with blue about 90-95%. I have had several gunsmiths look at it and they say it is a nice weapon and try to purchase it from me at a substantially low price. Any body got an idea when it was made or how many 3 inch guns were made pre 36?

Can't help you with the value, but the catalog says it was born in 1955.
