Floating along the Dan River

There is numerous access points open to the public plus outfitters that rent canoes, kayaks, and tubes. Trip durations are from and one and one half hours to several hours for most people. For those that are river rats you can spend all day and the next with no problem.

Looks like fun! As a boy, I used to float the local rivers with my Dad. We didn't do it often, once or twice a year, but always enjoyed it. There is just something about floating a river that almost anyone can enjoy.
 
Great river, the Dan! I enjoyed canoeing it in years past, also the Yadkin and Catawba. I found it interesting too from a historical perspective, following history and canoeing the areas that General Nathaniel Greene used so effectively in his many Crossings of the Dan to draw out Cornwallis.
