This is for any shooter but mainly for Florida shooters. Our range holds a monthly ICORE match we are located in Volusia county Florida off of State Road 44.
The link to our range is Volusia County Gun & Hunt Club | New Smyrna Beach | DeLand
The matches are held the 3rd Saturday of each month. Match fees are $15. We generally have 6 stages and a round count of 150 round give or take a few. You can shoot 22lr as well as center fire.
here is the link to ICORE'S web site for those interested, ICORE Homepage nice and simple 17 page rule book
If interested you can PM me and I'll supply my phone number to answer any and all questions.
Dust off the wheel guns and come out and join us.
Thanks for looking, Don P Assistant Match Director for ICORE and IDPA

I have an old model 17 K frame in 22LR that I inherited. I have only shot it a few times. I would like to get to know it better. I am in Orlando

Wish I was in florida! We have National Match bullseye competition and silhouette.

Mark come on out and get real personal with that oldie but goodie. I have some speed loaders I can let you use. The Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club also has a match on the 4th Sunday of each month just in case you would like to give them a try also. Their web site is Home

ICORE Rimfire is a blast. I am running my old 6 shot 617 with 4 Inch barrel. Being a 6 shooter that would put it in Rimfire Classic Division. I have been using my old HKS Speed Loaders in Kydex speed loader carriers that I made.

The 617 makes 3 Divisions I can shoot in.
Classic: 686 or 64 or GP100
Limited: 610 or 625 or 686 cut for moon clips
Rimfire Classic: 617 (6 Shooter)

I am the Match Director at Big Piney in South Central Missouri. We are the only ICORE Club in Missouri.

I believe you have 3 or 4 ICORE Clubs in Florida.

Are you designing your own Stages on your computer? How are you designing them? I am using MS Word. One of your Florida ICORE shooters provided me with a Word friendly D1 silhouette for my Stage Design work. I have been in contact with Mike Wiggins FL2642 when I was getting our ICORE Matchs set up. Also Pete Whyth. I did not see him listed on your Match Results page, so he must shoot at another ICORE Range.

I hope you get a few Florida S&W Forum members to get the Revolvers out of the safe, and use them a little. It seems to me like this Forum is a little light on competition shooters for some reason.

From looking at your Match Results, you have a very good turn out for your matchs. Looked like 18 to 30 some odd shooters at every match I looked at. Looked like Winter Matchs had higher turnouts than Summer. Probably nicer weather in Florida in the Winter months. Also looked like a good number of Lady Shooters listed. Looks like you are doing it right.
We are in a low population density area. I have one shooter who drives 2 hours every month to shoot in our ICORE Match. We have another now and again shooter from Memphis which is a 4 hr drive. You are doing a good job keeping the dust off a lot of revolvers. :)

Thanks Bob R, I'm only the assistant MD. Mike Wiggins is the MD and got this all started by going to s match at Central Florida Rifle & Pistol club some 2+ years back and here we are now. We have been trying to get more wheel gunners involved, hence the post. The wife and I travel to the CFRPC match on the 4th Sunday and its 158 mile round trip and some tolls so I guess you could say we are a bit dedicated. Most attendee's travel between the 2 ranges. Wyoming's match would be roughly a 3 hour ride from where we live. Just a bit to far. 6 hour ride round trip plus 3-4 hour match would make for a real long day. For a while we were allowing the ladies to shoot free at the matches to help getting them involved. Thanks for the positive words and if you are ever in FLA. give me notice and we would love to have you at a match and meet.
Regards, Don P
P.S. We will be in Byrum, Mississippi for the Southern Regional on September 13.

Any IDPA shooters know this? Was reading about 8 round mags in IDPA on another site. If you dont start with 9 rounds .45 acp total your penalized 3 seconds? Is that true? I have all 7 round mags that work flawless why try 8 rounders that dont work so well? Can I compete with 7 round mags? Im not trying to win just shoot well.

You can use the 7 round magazines WITHOUT PENALTY. You would load all mags with 7 rounds UNLESS the stage description states other wise and you would load 1 round in the chamber. That is how you will start a stage with a gun loaded to division capacity. The rule is 8 round magazines maximum in CDP. You can shoot any 45 acp OTHER than a 1911 in SSP and ESP and would be allowed by the rules to load 10 rounds in the magazines in those divisions plus 1 in the chamber. I personally use the 8 round magazines and have NO issues with them as they are reliable
