Flu Shot Or Not?

I haven't had a flu shot in years and I don't get the flu, at work I am in contact with the general public all day and every day.
I prefer not to be injected with poison.

Just as an aside, I get rabies and distemper shots for my cats every year and within a couple weeks they are sick and I have spend a few hundred in vet bills to make them well.

I am not a believer in vaccines.

I remember having a flu shot in the mid 70s during a swine flu epidemic scare. That was the one and only flu shot I have ever received but it must have done the trick because I have had the flu only once since...in 1991.

I never get colds either. Germs don't like me. I'm too ornery.

I get the flu shot every year, it makes me feel bad for a day or two and then things are normal.

I do not like getting them but I guess they help as I have not had the flu in years.

Add me to the I get one every year crowd. I do tend to feel a little cruddy a couple days after but I can't say it's because of the shot. What I can say is I haven't had the flu in 20 or so years and if that little shot in the arm is what keeps that away I'm all for it. Folks that say they don't believe in modern medicine need to go back in history and remember a few disease's we no longer worry about, polio, the plague, scarlet fever, yellow fever, the clap......ok, 4 out of 5 ain't bad. Sorry.

Next time you get your flu shot ask for the warning insert from the box it came in.

Yeah, we just had a thread on this a couple of months ago.

And I am still of the same mind. I take the shot every year 'cause I don't want to get the flu if I can help it.

Went to my local Walgreen's and the pharmacist gave me both the influenza and pneumonia shots. No charge. I had the Shingles vaccine a couple of seasons back, and will get it again when necessary. I absolutely will not sit through twelve hours of Terry Bradshaw career highlights! :D :D :D

I'm a real believer in them. Not only do they work on preventing the flu, but I've noticed fewer colds and sniffles, also. I know the shots don't prevent colds, but I believe firmly that they help your body's immune system in general.

About 20 years ago, I got sicker than I could believe right after a flu shot. I have always thought it was directly linked, but I can't be sure. I still get one every year, in part because of my underlying health conditions - my doctors ride me like a rented mule about it. I was pretty tired this year for a few days after the shot, but again, I can't prove the link I suspect.

Being "a bit tired" after a flu shot usually implies a reaction to one of the ingredients. However, it is still WAY better than having the flu.

I got my shot Columbus Day.

flu shot

I consulted an expert, my doctor. He said yes
Got the shot six weeks ago, zero negative effects

Or not!

I stopped talking the flu shots over a decade ago and I have not had a cold or the flu since. I don’t trust the pharmaceutical industry as far as I can throw them. I never take anything I don’t have to take. They will basically do anything to make a buck or a few billion of them.

Whether a person gets a flu shot or not is purely a matter of personal choice. However, I recommend that every person considering any vaccination do a full day (at least) of research on the pros and cons of that vaccine. And if, after doing that research, someone still can't decide, then I suggest a little research into the Gardasil vaccine, specifically, and some quiet contemplation of the fact that ALL vaccine makers (and givers) have now been given a blanket immunity from all damage suits relating to the side effects of their vaccines.

I read it's been banned in a few Countries because of the side effects it can cause.

I have a "compromised" immune system. All of my doctors tell me to get one every year now. Getting mine in a couple of weeks.

Dr. Told this week I needed one. I'm 70 and never had one are the flu. I don't take them. Another reason is because I'm terrified of needles. Rather look down the business end of double barrel than a needle. People laugh when a big guy faints.
