Let me preface this post by saying I am not one of those Philly fans who paints himself green, climbs greased poles, chants E-A-G-L-E-S at the drop of a hat nor have I ever booed Santa Claus. I support Philadelphia sports teams and I was thrilled to watch the Eagles win the Super Bowl last night, however...it has been a long time since I had watched any football, the antics on and off the field had gotten ridiculous, guys getting paid millions to play a game and acting like complete idiots with their celebrations on the field and criminal activities off the field.

Last season I decided I would give it another chance, I liked the addition of Doug Peterson and Carson Wentz and liked the direction the Eagles seemed to be heading, so I decided to watch again. Well, we all know what transpired at the beginning of this season, with the kneeling, the activism, and the NFL's decision to not take a stance. I took a stance - NO games for me this year. The kid Wentz had a spectacular season before an injury knocked him out, Nick Foles stepped in and kept the team together and kept them on a winning track. It took him the last 3 games of the season to knock the rust off and get back in synch, but once he did he returned to the level he had played at during his previous tenure with the Eagles.

First game I watched was the NFC championship game against Minnesota - I had to, I am Philly sports fan. When they demolished the Vikings I knew they had a chance at winning the Super Bowl. Second game I watched, the Super Bowl. The Patriots. A juggernaut. As much as I like Tom Brady and respect Bill Belichick as a coach, my heart was with the Eagles and what a SUPER Super Bowl the two teams provided. I doubt there was anyone watching who didn't think that with one minute on the clock there wasn't some way Tom Brady wasn't going to pull another miracle out of his hat (helmet). A drought of 58 years without a championship ended for the Eagles last night with one of the most exciting games in recent history. I can only imagine the madness that will be the parade later this week.

GO EAGLES!! Thank you.

CONGRATS EAGLES.

I'm good with either team winning. THE IDIOT announcer that jinxed the Pats by saying, more than once that the Pats hadn't been sacked or had a turnover YET!!! Great game with both QB's throwing for over 400+ yards, no loser there. The writing on the wall for me was 2 missed field goals??? My big question now is who will be the eagles franchise QB now? With Foles paycheck/worth skyrocketing, I'm thinking there's no way they can afford both.

Not a big sports fan but I have to say that the EAGLES got the win they deserved and it was a long time coming!
I see a good future for this team and it's coaches as long as they keep it together! ;)

Only reason I watched was the two kickers, Jake Elliot and Stephen Gostkowsky, both played at the University of Memphis and are class acts. Both had shaky starts, Gostkowsky actually made a pretty good tackle on one of the kickoffs. I was proud of Elliot when he center cut the 46 yarder that gave the Eagles the 8 point lead at the end.

Gostkowsky has two rings, now Elliot, a rookie, has one two. We at U of Mem. are pretty spoiled when it comes to placekickers.

I have been a football fan for 63 years. This Super Ball was the best football game I have ever watched. Even if my team had lost I would be saying the same thing. It was an amazing game on both sides of the ball.
I enjoy the game of football so i ignore the sometimes inglorious behavior of some of the players. I know what winng feels like, and sometimes the reaction is silly to stupid. But the Eagles victory was tarnished by that small segment of delinquent fans who celebrated by destroyed property and getting injured and even injuring others. Those morons made Philadelphia look bad when it should have had nothing less than a joyous night. Damn the idiots and go Eagles.

Check out the link to see how the good Eagles fans celebrated. Philadelphians take to the streets to celebrate Super Bowl

I don't watch a whole lot of football, mostly college. I do however have a friend I work with who just turned 56 in December. Last January he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had spread to his liver. He's from Philly so we watched the Super Bowl. My wife and I couldn't have been happier just to know that my friends team won for the first time. You could imagine the smile on his face.

I enjoyed a good football game last night. Not a NE hater but as a Dolphin follower I don't root for the Pats. Not much of a fan of Philly I liked the Foles story and remember Pederson's stint as a back up down here to Marino. All things being equal I like to root for the underdog and in this case it was the Eagle's.

Clean game, non calls went both ways, refs let the boys play. Glad the NE receiver knocked silly will be OK, don't get lost while being a target is always a good idea. Should've made a hole. The missed kick points didn't factor. I kept waiting for the breaks to go NE's way. The false start on Philly's first drive where they settled for three and the def. hold on a 3rd down stop where NE drove for 7 in the 2nd could have been big.

The two Philly scores held up after review.
I hoped just to see a good game, a couple hours of mindless entertainment, some bratwurst and beer and a couple hours of sitting on my butt with a chance to go for a walk during halftime.
I got my money's worth!

They flat out, out played the Patriots in all three phases of the game. Brady threw for 500 yards, but still made some game altering bad throws. Not to mention that strip sack.

Even at the last second, the Patriots could have got into position to force OT.

The big question for Patriots fans is what did Butler do that Belichick sidelined him?

In retrospect, where everything appears perfectly clear, they should have payed LaGarret Blount his asking price. :(

There will be a lot of changes and rebuilding in the off season.

I won't at all be surprised if Gostkowski is cut in the off season.

It was great to see the Eagles finally win the Superbowl. The atmosphere in Philly and the burbs today is great. When you grow up in Philly you get used to having your hopes crushed, so actually winning feels great. I'm not even a big sports fan and I'm really enjoying this. Everyone seems to be having a great time today. The parade promises to be a great day. Life will get back to it's normal unpleasantness soon enough, let's enjoy the good feelings while they last.

As far as all the hype about how terrible Philly fans are, especially in national media, it wasn't actually that bad. Sure, some goofs engaged in mindless drunken vandalism, but damage was pretty minimal overall and nobody died. I actually thought it would've been worse. The aftermath of the Phillies World Series win back in '08 was much worse. Pack 100,000 really excited, really drunk, people into the street and you have to expect a few problems.

Was Brady wearing lead shoes? :D Come on, all he had to do was jump six inches and could have caught that pass, but I'm sure glad he didn't :p

I thought the same but then remembered the play a couple minutes before when the Pat receiver was laid out Brady took a hellacious shot by an Eagle lineman that would have probably ruined my weekend.

SO sick of hearing about Thom Brady! Glad he didn't catch that ball and glad he lost!!

No one in sports that I have heard has even mentioned the fact that this now means the NFC East is the first and currently the ONLY division to be represented by teams who have ALL won the big one at least once.

Congrats to Philly for finally bringing that honor to the NFC East. (Dallas - 5, Giants - 4, Washington -3, and now, Philly - 1).

P.S. I'm a Houston Texans fan now, but grew up outside of D.C. in Maryland and went to a number of games at RFK & even had a friend in the Redskin band.
