I would say that it's best to stick with the standard 25 yard zero when using an unmagnified red dot or iron sights. It will shoot a little high at 50 yards, dead on again at 75 and low at 100 yards.

The 200 meter Improved Battlesight Zero (IBSZ) for the M4 carbine is easily accomplished at 50 yards and if you zero your M&P15-22 at 50 yards you'll be able to simulate your duty carbine's close combat trajectory very nicely.

The M4 is low at 25 yards and so will your M&P15-22; both by about an inch. The .22LR trajectory is pretty flat between 50 and 75 yards so while you won't get a 200 meter battlesight zero like the 5.56mm version you'll be within an inch of line of sight between 25 and a bit over 75 yards.

I can chase shotgun hulls across the range all day using the red dot and a little intuitive hold under at short ranges.
