I posted a couple weeks ago about value of model 15-2 with 2" barrel. Well I bought it last night and just cleaned it up. You guys said to try $450-$500. got it for $500, no wiggle. tightest Smith I've seen in a while! bore perfect, timing and lockup perfect, real solid. there is a downside, the revolver is from 1967, the grips are black washer PC magnas from about a year later. Darn! I wanted a solid shooter, what say you?

OMG, that thing is hideous! So, just to be a good sport, I'll give you what you paid for it. Heck, I'll even pay shipping since I'm such a nice guy... Good looking revolver. Now, take it out and shoot it!

Well now grips are not that hard to change dress it with what ever you want, the gun will not get mad!

I have a very ugly 15 2''. It was a working cops personally owned gun. I got it cheap about 1975 as no one wanted it and the dealer gave me a price just to get it out of his store, I could not refuse. Best shooting/accurate snub nosed .38 I own:D I put a set of Pacs on it when I bought it and there on it today. The grips I took off were only good for firewood!:)

Congratulations on a great gun &price! I would do that any day myself. I looked for a 15 snub off & on for a year or more. Bought a 2" 10-5 R.B. instead. Sure like shooting it. I added slightly larger stocks that I modified. Perfect size. Bob

Of course you got a solid shooter. They mostly all are, unless someone has monked 'em up! Whether you think it's to nice to shoot is up to you, but that's what they all were made for, right? It is a very nice copy, but you can shoot it and maintain it well without doing much damage to it's value, IMO!
It has been fired and has been in and out of a holster a few times, right? You did very well, Sir!

I probably have a set of stocks on my Model 15 snub that I will be perfectly happy to let you have - but I won't see that gun again for awhile since it is being stored after my house fire. The gun did not get hurt. The box was ruined but I was shooting it, anyway, before the fire, so the box doesn't matter. PM me in a few weeks and let's see where I am at.

I paid $500 for mine a few months ago, no wiggle room either.
The finish on yours is a whole lot nicer than mine.

One trip to the range with the 15-2 and you will understand what all the fuss is about. Very accurate, beautiful trigger, enough heft to soften recoil. It's just a pleasure to shoot.

No need to wiggle at $500. IMO, that is correct, and neither party got screwed.

If you shoot that thing, you will find out why.

Nice pick up!

It's weird, I have a 2" model 64 and I swear it has the nicest trigger on any of my Smiths. It balances real nice too in my hand.

Model 15 Snubby

I see that all the thieves haven't been locked up! Looking on gunsinternational they range from 700-900+, nickel 1100+. I'd buy all I could find for what you paid for it. They are pricey compared to the 4". Yours appears in good condition, not perfect, but pretty close. Those 2" K frames are quite accurate.

As I recall from my days living in CA back in the 1970s and 1980s the CHP officers doing desk duty often wore 2" Model 15s in hi-rise holsters. I guess they didn't bang into doors and furniture like a 6" revolver would.

Now I am a mess! just put a set of K frame targets on my new 15-2 snub because I love the fit and feel of them, and for the first time, I think the gun may look better with magnas on it! maybe its the 2" barrel. Has anyone had this problem?

Know what you mean. M15 Snubs are one of my favorite S&W's. Target grips feel good if you have largish hands but make the snub look awkward because they are not proportionate to overall size of your shorty Model 15. Maybe some Tyler T type grip adapters along with your magna grips would give you the look and feel you want.

You did well.
I happened across one a few years ago in a small town LGS. It was a good price so I got it, not expecting much. Amazingly easy to shoot accurately. Lots of fun.
I agree on the magnas and grip adaptor.
